It's been six months since Dean and I got engaged. Sawyer is a year and seven months old now.
Today is our wedding day.
Sam and Laura got to Reed last night with Tom, Anne, and baby William. Will is a week younger than Sawyer. Pa went and made sure they made it into town alright. They'll be staying at the house for the rest of their stay.
I'm going to the hotel room pretty early so I can get ready with Laura. The boys will be working hard today and getting everything ready. The wedding is taking place in our giant empty backyard.
I have no clue how it's going to look. Dean promised me I would love it.
Two months ago, Dean and I took another trip to Saint Riviera. There are no places to get a wedding dress in Reed. Saint Riviera seemed like our best bet. Laura knew the girl well that was there.
"I promise you she's a lovely lady" Laura smiled as we approached the shop.
I smirked, "I bet she is. I'm just not the type of person to wear a dress, and you know that".
Laura nodded, "Oh yes".
We arrived at the dress place, we got out of the carriage and walked inside.
"Laura is that you?" A girl called out.
"Sure is Jean! Got the lady here I was talking to you about last week".
A lady came out of the back and hugged Laura.
"Amira, this is Jean. A good friend of mine" Laura smiled.
Jean shook my hand, "Nice to meet you. Now, you're looking for a wedding dress?".
I nodded, "Not anything...like too big and out there-".
"She's not a dress kind of gal" Laura added.
Jean took a second, "I'll bring a couple out and you can try them on. Sound good?".
I nodded and smiled.
Jean went to the back.
Laura laughed a little, "You look and sound vest uncomfortable there dear gal".
I rolled my eyes. The appointment went on, Laura was right. I was very uncomfortable. I tried on dress after dress, it all felt so weird. We tried on dresses for what felt like hours.
Until I found one that I loved.
"Leaving?" Dean groaned.
"Yeah, I told you that yesterday. Now you get up and go do your thing. Wedding starts at lunch".
Dean sat up. I got up and left the house. I didn't even get a cup of coffee, anything. I was dressed. That's all I needed. I got on my horse and rode into Reed.
I wasn't usually here this early, so it was weird how quiet it was.
I ran to the hotel, and knocked on the door to Laura and Sam's room.
Laura opened the door, "Ah. The wedding day glow. Bed marks all over your face and messy hair, it always makes a wedding".
I laughed a little, "Shut up".
"Now come on in. I have someone to introduced to you, another lady friend of mine close by," Laura shut the door behind me as I walked in, "Her name is Miriam, my older sister".
"Your... your older sister?" I asked.
Laura nodded, "I know it's short notice, but you and I are gonna need some help getting you all pretty. You also need more friends that are the same gender".
