And here I was, a year later, of to this school. No, I hadn't talked to Dad at all. He was always like, "Lila, why are you not talking?" I would just stick my nose up in the air. It was actually quite funny at times, watching Dad get frustrated.
Extremely bored, I wonder around the forest, my quiver slung across my back. No animals were out today, and this could possibly be the last time I'll do archery. I was off to this Immortals place today. I wanted to go, but something was holding me back. I was leaving the place I called home, I was leaving the forest. The nature had always calmed me down.
I let out a sigh. With trembling hands, I slowly pull out my bow and arrows from my tent and walk off. I paced the forest around and around at least twice. I wasn't at all careful today. Twigs broke beneath my feet constantly and the sound of crunchy leaves that never got swept up feet during fall were echoing beneath my feet. I wasn't bothered in some ways. But it also irritated me. I wanted to make the most but I guess I was just far do distracted to do anything really. What's this new school like? Is dad sending me to a school that he actually knows is good for 'supernaturals' or just a regular school for humans? I mean, I'm fairly well educated. Dad's a smart guy and he has taught me a lot. At least I can count. I can write too. I was taught before I left home and there's plenty of bits of chalk and rock around for me to write on. But the question that I wanted to find out is what is this school like?
Loading my bow, I lift my head and I'm almost blinded by the sunlight. I make a 90 degree turn and set off into the forest, looking out for any creatures out in the wild. Something catches my eye, but it's gone in seconds. I slowly turn around and spot a swarm of squirrels. I load by bow with two more arrows and let the three fire. A lot of the squirrels sprinted away, but I managed to shoot three.
I was just collecting them when the echoes of my name were filling the forest. "Lila... Lila... come on, it's time to go!" with a sigh, I grab all three squirrels by the tails and walk off.
"Hi.." I mutter to my father.
"Hello. I have something for you." he extended his arms out and shown me something that looked like cloth. "Your sister made them. She said good luck."
"Yeah, I know. I was talking to her the other day." I utter whilst examining the new clothes. There were three pairs of denim jeans and a few tops. I actually couldn't wait to try them on. The fabric felt so soft.
My father coughed awkwardly. "So um, are we going to go?" Things had gotten pretty tense between us over the spring and summer. I flat refused to talk to him since the incident with my mother. Now, Dad always acted really nervous and awkward every time he spoke to me.
I stiffly nodded. He began to walk at a fast pace, whistling as he walked. I had to slightly jog every now and again just to keep up with him. Are we walking on foot? We're in the forest in the Lake District in England and I was told this school was in another country. I was bored and irritated by the time my father stopped.
"Right, okay. So, pick which one you want." I had no idea what he meant until I saw him walk over to about 5 of these strange looking animals. They were beautiful, no doubt. Like horses but with wings and their backs were scaly, or that's what it looked like. A bit like snake skin but on a bigger scale. I walked over to one which was a light brown, a bit lighter than a caramel colour. I realised that the eyes were a deep blue, like the colour of mine really. I slowly got on with control and looked over at my father for guidance. He did a strange whistle and the horse like creatures backed off apart from the ones we were on. Suddenly, they kicked off the ground. I flung my arms around its neck, my eyes closed, not daring to look down. All I could feel was the wind rippling in my hair. It was an amazing sensation. It was kind of calming.
Soon enough, I had the courage to open my eyes. The view was gorgeous. Large snow-capped mountains in a curved line, going bigger to smaller. The grass was pure green and had multi coloured dots, which I assumed were flowers. The sky was clear blue, not one cloud in sight. The sun was beating against my back with the heat it had left; it had started to get colder outside now that we were drifting into fall. The view gave a sense of serenity, peacefulness. It was amazing really.
