Six Years Later - Winter - Eleven Years of Age
My hair is turning darker, from its sandy blond to a black. But still, I have the blue eyes that belong to all my family, the dark hair that Dad has, and the pale skin like Mum. My teeth are chattering, my lips are white. I tug my jacket tighter around me.
I wonder if I'll ever survive in this place. Or if we'll move on? Or will we starve to death? Or of dehydration? I'll fight to live, even in chances like this, when the lake is frozen over.
"Lila?" I look up and see Dad looking at me. I smile.
"Hey." I get up from of the ground. I take a knife from his jacket and walk over to the lake. I take a deep breath and plunge my knife into the ice. The ice slowly cracks. I smile and get up. "Hey, Dad. You have any of them flasks we have?"
"Yeah." He replies whilst throwing them at me. I catch the and fill them up with the ice cold water. I drink some from mine. Nice.. Ooh, its nice. I refill mine and hand Dad his. "Cheers."
I return to daydreaming. I wonder how Laurie is. Yeah, how is Laurie? I wonder what she looks like... The thought worries me, what if Mum sent her somewhere, or killed her?
"Lila?" I quickly turned around. Father was holding two bows and two sheaths of arrows. He passed me on of each. "Today we are going hunting." He told me. I raised an eyebrow.
"What? I cant even but an arrow in place."
"That's why I am here. I'll teach you." And he did, I picked up quickly, hitting animals with an accurate aim in the eye. I just went straight onto killing animals. It was very fun though, I almost felt like I was Robin Hood, apart from I don't know what its like to be him.

I stare at my reflection in the water. My dark hair flows down my shoulders now. My eyes have changed so much to, from a grey to an icy blue. I have became almost unhealthily skinny and um.. More grown up?
And yes, I do hate being older. I wish I could just have stayed 5 or 6. Does everyone my age feel like that? Or is it because of my past?
I sigh and stumble to my feet. Today I shall go and meet a friend or two. I pick up my newly carved bow Father made last week and my sheath of arrows. I sling the arrows across my shoulder and walk over to our very wet tent.
"Um, be back soon." I mutter to Father and I turn on my heel, making it out into the wild. I see no one on my travels. I load my bow and hit a squirrel with my accurate aim in the eye. I load my bow again when a voice calls.
"No! You cant do that to some poor creatures who have done nothing to you!" I turn around, my bow still raised. I cant see who it is until the girl comes out. I lower my bow and raise an eyebrow. We stand in silence.
"And how am I meant to get food? Buy it of the market?" The girl looks utterly confused. "You didn't catch the sarcasm, didn't you?" She shook her head, stupid red head. And I thought red heads are smart.
