Vinnie's P.O.V

Leo's gentle kiss in the morning caused a flame of desire to ignite as his liberated hand journeyed across the contours of my frame, sending waves of joy as it meandered to my underwear. "Uh huh," I murmured against his lips, "gonna be late, babe."

"It's only 12, no big deal. I'm pretty sure Wes won't care."

Our lips crashed together in a passionate embrace, the heat of our kiss blazing through me like an inferno. We got as close as we physically could, never letting go. It felt like time stopped, but my anxieties stayed hidden in the back of my head. It wasn't Wes that was bothering me; it was someone else.

I stepped under the shower head and the hot water pelted my skin like a bullet. I started to lather up when a terrible thought came to my mind. Blair's threats were getting closer, and I knew there wasn't way to stop it. I mean, I could try to run, but what would be the point? She'd always find me. Her text message from the previous day demonstrated that.

Meet me or else I'll blow your cover <3

Honestly, fuck this! Every time I was trying to have a good time, she had to come in and mess it up. There's no way I could tell Leo that the woman who kissed me at the carnival wanted to kill me. A deep sense of guilt, almost like flames was engulfing me, but telling the truth was off the table. I had no liberty or autonomy; not while I was alive.

I walked out of the bathroom, the wet towel wrapped around my waist, and I saw Leo, absorbed in a game on his phone. A wave of sadness overwhelmed me as I realised how precious, and fleeting, life is. I had to savour this moment before I kicked the bucket.

"Earth to Leonardo!" I called out, my gaze averted as I rummaged through my belongings for some form of lotion.

"Wait, almost done with this level," he replied, eyes glued to the mobile.

I slathered my skin with moisturiser before heading to my closet and perusing my wardrobe for the ideal ensemble. Taking a deep breath, I turned to him and asked, "Babe, can you give me a hand? I'm not sure what to put on today."

He stopped playing his game and combed through my wardrobe. He took his time scrutinizing each item in my closet before deciding on the light-coloured clothing. It was a cream ribbed knit top and a pair of jeans. "Here," he grinned as he handed it to me, saying, "This would look so good on you!"

"I'm trusting you," I said before giving him a quick peck on the lips. With that, he returned to his game while I got ready. After slipping into the outfit and accessorising with a silver chain and two rings, I fluffed my hair once more and wore sneakers.

I reached out my hand and asked, "Ready to eat?"

"You bet! I'm starving." he replied, taking my hand as we descended the stairs.

When we stepped into the kitchen, I let go of his hand and a deep emptiness filled the air. I opened the refrigerator and light-heartedly quipped, "Since you had a food fight instead of getting milk, got any ideas?"

"I had to do it." he answered without a second thought sitting at the kitchen table. "No biggie though, we can always get something else to eat. It doesn't have to be cereal all the time, y'know?"

I was filled with despair as I bellowed out my plea, "No cereal, oh the humanity!" in a theatrical manner.

He glared at me with his deep, warm eyes. His expressions could communicate a wide variety of emotions, but this one was unmistakably a warning to be quiet, though I knew he didn't mean it.
