Vinnie's P.O.V

I glanced at the clock; it was just quarter to eight o'clock. I stood there, anticipating the arrival of Leonardo. To pass the time, I occupied myself with a game on my mobile phone. After a few moments, I heard the sound of footsteps descending the stairs.

He playfully asked as he drew closer, "Hot date?"

I leaned in and planted a gentle kiss on his face, feeling the roughness of his stubble against my skin. I responded with a slight chuckle and a murmured, "Yeah, something like that."

As we stepped out of the cabin into the night, we were greeted by the soft glow of streetlamps illuminating the sky. Our excursion to the carnival was filled with a blanket of stars sparkling overhead. After an hour of travel, we arrived at the car park. Upon purchasing our tickets, the aroma of buttery popcorn and sweet candy floss filled the night air.

The roller coaster riders were shrieking in excitement while the younger children circled the carousel. As we entered, I noticed Wes standing nearby, talking on the phone. I waved to catch his attention, and when he looked over, I gestured for him to come over. "Wes!" I exclaimed. "Where is your date?"

Wes embraced me in a warm hug, then exchanged a fist-bump with Leo. His smile was wide, and his eyes lit up with delight. "I'm so glad you made it. How are you doing, man? Vinnie told me you weren't feeling well."

He stated that he was feeling better and thanked him, before adding "Let's just say, I'll never be doing that again!" he uttered the words with an air of finality, causing us to let out a shared laugh.

I couldn't help but ask Wes one more time, "Where's your date? I'm dying to see who you brought with you to the carnival!" I scanned the area, my gaze wandering across the bustling carnival grounds, searching for the mystery person.

He scratched the side of his head in a sign of perplexity. "So, about that. They blew me off. They weren't interested in what I had to say. Can you believe it?" His voice had a hint of something else, like he was holding something back. I didn't press him for more information, as I was certain he'd tell me when he was ready.

"I better be on my way - there's someone waiting for me, so you two can have some quality time without me tagging along as the third wheel." he rushed out.

I felt a bit of scepticism as I uttered the words, "Bye I guess," wondering why he had been so eager for me to come, yet he was now leaving so soon.

With a quick wave of his hand, Wes was out of sight. Gazing across, my eyes caught sight of a female figure standing there, her back to me. Her silhouette seemed very familiar, reminiscent of the wicked spectre that was tormenting my life.

I grinned at Leo, a mischievous twinkle in my eyes as intertwined my hands. "You know, babe, I've heard that bumper cars are the ultimate test of a person's driving skills. Are you up for the challenge?"

He shot back a playful smirk. "Oh, you're on, Vin. But be prepared to lose."

We stepped closer to the bumper cars and were immediately struck by the frenzied activity. Everywhere we looked, cars were crashing into one another with loud thuds and screeches, accompanied by peals of laughter and excited screams. The area was illuminated by a dazzling array of multi-coloured lights, adding to the carnival atmosphere. We hopped into our individual cars, all set to battle to see who would come out on top.

Amid the chaotic collisions of the bumper cars, our eyes met in a conspiratorial and teasing manner, as if daring one another to bump harder. The ride was wild and exciting, and by the time we got off, our laughter filled the carnival.
