A week went by. They met at home every night to eat dinner together and had to admit that they were in fact very compatible...even down to both disliking the cashier at the local coffee shop who was incapable of getting their names correct because she was too busy ogling them.
They felt very comfortable being a couple in public and it wasn't uncommon to see them at the grocery holding a product up at a distance so the other could give the 'yes' or 'no' signal. How they knew the other was not beside them or needed their opinion was a mystery, but it just happened.
True to his word, Jungkook did not go out partying but because of that he realized just how much time Jimin actually spent with his 'family'. They were still very awkward with each other, waiting for the other one to reveal their secret. Jimin kept dropping hints or asking to go with Jungkook to visit with his mother and Jungkook did the same regarding Jimin's family.
Jimin watching JK closely: 'Does your mother want another lesson? I haven't heard from her in a while.'
Jungkook: 'I'll ask.'
Jimin: 'She wasn't displeased with the lessons, was she?'
Jungkook: 'No way! She still talks about them every day.'
Jimin: 'Oh...is she okay? She just stopped talking to me all together.'
Jungkook: 'Yes...(he paused)...why do you ask? Did you hear something?'
Jimin: 'No, would I have?'
Jungkook: 'No.'
It was a quiet response.
Jungkook: 'How was the visit with the family today?'
The conversations trying to get the information out of each other was uncomfortable at best and neither one came forward with the details. Jimin was always being sent home early by the Don, so he was getting a bit antsy. He had always really enjoyed the hunt. Going into the interrogation room and 'encouraging' people to talk was still enjoyable, but it didn't have the same feeling of doing hits.
It was Friday night and Jimin was heading home a bit later than usual. It had been a tiring day and it was a long weekend, so he had taken the day off from the studio tomorrow. He looked forward to sleeping in. At home he opened the door to darkness. His stomach fell, remembering the last time this happened.
'No, he promised that there would not be a repeat.' Jimin thought.
He showered, making sure that not a single speck of blood remained. Hits were so clean compared to this. He sighed as he scrubbed his fingers. Downstairs, freshly showered, Jimin heard Jungkook, or who he thought was Jungkook, trying to get in the door and unsuccessfully getting the combination wrong over and over.
'He can't remember the code?' Jimin thought.
He turned on the door camera to see a very drunk JK hanging over a gorgeous woman's shoulders. They were laughing at his inability to remember the code. Jimin stared at the camera in disbelief, the anger welling up in him instantly, and took a deep breath. He opened the door, standing there silently looking at the couple. The fury emanating from him.
JK giggled: 'There you are! Thanks!'
Jungkook was drunk, and giddy. He had a business meeting with a few people after hours at some restaurant and there had been quite a bit to drink. Being Friday, he was hard pressed to say no to all the drinks that had been offered.
The person who 'helped' him home was one of the assistants from the visiting officials. She was under the impression that the ring on his hand was not real, since the others at his office had all brought their spouses to the restaurant except him, so had made him her target for the night.
