CHAPTER 18

JUNGKOOK'S CAR

There was silence. Jungkook was driving home and allowed Jimin to talk comfortably.

Jimin: 'I received the messages. Is the plan for the job to happen tonight?'

Yoon: 'Yes, Dad asked that you take north point and the ground team go in. You are just there for back up if the collection goes awry. He hasn't paid up immediately the last two times, so a red dot might encourage a safe to be opened.'

Jimin nodded. 'I know the area and a good point would be the upper east side. You know that building. What floor is safe?'

Yoon: 'The team goes in on the fifth, so one up should suffice don't you think?'

Jimin: 'Yes.'

Yoon: 'Jimin, Dad ask that I talk with Jungkook and see how he is after Ki's stunt. He might not tell you or him all the details, but he might talk with me.'

Jimin: 'Sure. I also was thinking some basics might be a good idea, just in surveillance and common tactics so he can be more aware of what to look for.'

Yoon: 'Hummm...yes.'

Jimin: 'Would you be able to? You are the only person I trust.'

Yoon: 'I will. You trained my girlfriend and she has been saved more than once because of the simple things you taught her to look out for. I will forever be grateful for that.'

Jimin: 'She was smart and I could see why you chose her. How is she? I haven't seen her in a while.'

Yoon: 'Good. She finishes her bar exam next week. She will be a full-fledged lawyer!'

Jimin: 'Awesome. Do I need to come by the house?'

Yoon: 'I have time if you want to bring Jungkook by and go out with the team from here. Dad wants to talk with him too.'

Jimin: 'Ok. I will check and let you know.'

Yoon: 'Ok.'

Jimin hung up and looked at Jungkook. He had only heard half of the conversation, so was a bit confused.

Jimin: 'I have a job for the family tonight. I am going as backup while they pick up a package. The last time they visited this gang they did not do business with our Family and it was bad, so we are playing it smart this time.'

Jungkook held his breath. Jimin was doing mafia business. He still did not know the details of Jimin's involvement in the family.

Jimin: 'The Don would like to talk with you tonight. It is just to see how you are doing after the run in with Ki. He is feeling bad that you were not protected probably. He really likes you.'

Jungkook: 'Really?'

Jimin nodded. 'He liked you a lot!!'

Jungkook: 'But Ki is family isn't he?'

They pulled into the parking structure and Jungkook cut the engine.

Jimin: 'Yes, but we have a policy to not drag innocents into our internal issues. Spouses, friends, and significant others are innocents. They should be protected from any silly rivalries because we can get serious and innocents aren't trained to handle that.'

Jungkook nodded. They left the car and went inside to enter the building's elevator.

Jungkook: 'You were discussing... a girl?'

Jimin glanced at him. Was Jungkook jealous?

Jimin: 'Yoon's girlfriend wanted to learn some basics of the family and what to look out for. She didn't want to be sitting at dinner and have to rely on Yoon to save her. She wanted to see if someone was intent on doing them harm so she could save herself and possibly Yoon. It is nice to have someone you trust next to you watching your back.'
