PROM NIGHT
Samantha.
It was 3:30 P.M., the dance started at 6, and Jacob was coming at 5:15 to pick me up. I sat down in my bed, looking through more college applications before the makeup artist came over to do my makeup. Aaliyah and Janay were coming over to my house so that the boys could pick them up from one place at the same time.
My mom came up the stairs, holding onto the railing. She was a little uneasy still after her attack. We really kept our mouths shut about everything, so she healed without any professional medical help. Just my help, and Jacob's help every once in a while. But I mean I was going to school to take care of people every day, so more or less that was practice.
"Hey honey." she sat down on my bed giving me a warm smile. "Hey, ma. What's up?" she shrugged. "Nothing, just took a break from reviewing some cases. What are you doing baby?"
"Just looking at some more colleges. Oh! Did you call dad and ask if he could make it to the graduation?" She sighed, "He said he wasn't sure ... it's hard for him to get off time when he's overseas." I looked down in disappointment. My dad was overseas in the Air Force, and it was really hard for me to cope that he's so far away. My dad is constantly in danger, I'm paranoid that something could happen to him any minute. He's been gone for a few years; and it was hard. But with my family's support, I started feeling better.
"I know baby, it's hard for me too. Don't worry, I'll be there for you." She kissed my forehead and hugged me close. "Okay, I love you mom." She smiled. "Love you too, princess."
As soon as our conversation was done, I heard the doorbell ring. "Oh! That must be Ellarie." She jumped up and went to go answer the door. I followed her downstairs, and saw a beautiful woman with a sweet smile at the door. "Hello." She smiled then looked at me. "You must be the prom princess!" She giggled and I shook her hand. "Samantha." I smiled. "Ellarie. Let's get you started, sit wherever you feel comfortable." She smiled at me, and started getting her makeup from her large case.
While I was getting my makeup done, I was on my phone, and noticed I got an email from the school. I checked, and saw that it was the reveal of the Prom court. I was anxious to look through, because I only thought of the idea a little bit, and told a few people about it. Jacob wanted the both of us to win desperately, but we never campaigned for it.
Tonight is the night! West Middleton High School's 2015 Prom Court is listed below.
Prom Queen Nominees: Naomi Santana, Aaliyah Brooks and Samantha Graham.
Prom King Nominees: Rayan Lopez, Jacob Perez and Anthony Sanders.
Congratulations to the nominees! Final voting will be tonight at Prom. Hope to see everybody there!

My jaw dropped at seeing Naomi and Rayan's names. I hoped that Naomi wouldn't win queen, but I highly doubted she'd win. I'm actually shocked that she even made the court. I didn't want to worry too much before tonight though. It's my senior prom for crying out loud.
It was nearly 4:30, and Ellarie finished. She not only did my makeup, but offered to style my hair as well. She smiled looking at the finished product. "Alright, all done." She smiled, I got up and looked in the mirror, giving my reflection a satisfying smile. "Thank you, I love it."
She grinned with pride. "You're welcome, my pleasure." She started packing up her things, and I headed upstairs to get my dress on. I was slipping on my dress, and when I was getting it on, the doorbell rang again.
