You knew what he did and you just let it by.
Running in the maze, breaking the rules, it doesnt matter what he did, you kept it a secret without telling the rest. Now this is coming back to you by banishing him. And your punishment?
Your punishment was to watch him suffer, you had to watch in order to trust yourself again. You couldn't look or walk away, not even close your eyes to pretend that it wasn't even happening.
Only if they knew why, but you promised him that you wouldn't tell even if it had to come to this. Banishing.
You looked at his piercing eyes filled with fear; misery; and disappointment that he let you down. All of you. You saw the pre-tears in the corner of his eyes about to fall leaving a wet tear stain right behind it.
You couldn't see him suffer. You looked as he backed up from the sticks and rakes shoving him in. 'He's not going to make it' you told yourself as the maze doors shut him out from the glade.
And all you can think of is 'What have I done?'
