I was running for my life. My fingers felt numb trembling above the leather rein. I pulled it harder and my horse picked up her pace in command stomping the land like she was flying in air.
We were far off the palace ground but I was trapped inside my head, hunted by myself. How do one escape when you were your own hunter?
Cold corpses, staring at me. Blood filled the air I could taste it on my tongue. Cut flesh and opened wounds. I felt my skin crawled in disgust and my mouth turned bitter as bile piling up my throat. I wanted to puke out my guts until I lost consciousness.
The sound of car braking in a harsh stop, snapped me out of my daze. I realized Willow had stopped running as I no longer pulled her rein. We were standing in the middle of an isolated road, the other side of the palace.
A pair of arms grabbed my waist and pulled me off of the stallion. I felt warm. Then his cologne filled my nostrils replacing the blood. I blinked twice trying to decide if he was being my shining armor as always or was this one of my hallucinations.
" You look like shit. What the hell happened to you? " he scrunched his face at my appearance. He was very much real or my hallucination was on point.
" The only time I actually want you to talk. Open your mouth. Goddamn it. " he grunted.
I blankly stared at him.
" The car almost hit you. I told you not to die and you chose suicide. Have you lost your mind? "
I brought my hand up to his chest. His heart beat in a calming pace under my palm. I felt like I could breath again. Not another corpse. I forgot I was bleeding until I brought my bloody hand up to feel the warmth of his cheek. My blood smeared across his cheekbone as I ran my thumb over it.
" You're alive. " I breathed out.
His had his eyes trained on my face. He took a second looks at me and he figured it all out.
" And, you're bleeding. Whose throat do I need to rip out? " he narrowed his eyes at my hand.
I looked up at his face. " My uncle's dead. "
He searched my face for a few seconds. " That's none of my business. Can the horse find its own way back? " he asked, nodding his head at Willow's direction.
I nodded my head and turned back to her. I nuzzled my nose against hers, telling her to go back without me. She neighed in response like she understood. I tapped her back twice then she was on her way back.
Eden grabbed my shoulder and walked us to his car. I didn't have time to open the door when he beat me to it and shoved me inside, manhandling and all. Sighing, I buckled up and leaned my head on the window. The engine roared to life a second after he got in and slammed the door shut.
" Where are we going? " I asked, closing my eyes.
" Back to the palace. I'm going to burn that place down with everyone inside it. " he grunted, glaring at the road.
A ghost smile appeared on my face. I knew he could tear anything apart if he wanted to.
" Stop smiling. Grab the cloth from the glove compartment and tie it around your hand. " he huffed.
I fully grinned not realizing the fact that his mere presence brought me back in a snap. He became my savior and I knew I was in deep trouble because he had me, completely and beyond.
