I wasn't sure if I wanted to kill every damn person in this place or just kill myself and ended my pain once and for all.
This miserable palace was going to be my fucking undoing. It was unnecessary large, five times bigger than our place and thrice the size of my parents estate. I hated every inches of it, from the annoyingly long hallways to twists and turns around it.
I wouldn't be surprised if I hid a dead body in here and it stayed hidden forever. It was the most perfect place to commit murder without anyone finding out.
Dangers lurked in every corner of shadow, the duty could be hurt at any time of the day without me knowing and so I intended to know the map of this misery like the back of my hand that was until I got a phone call.
A haunted place was another way to describe this bloody palace. The paintings somehow got even creepier as nightfall came. I quietly slipped through the hallway in my guard uniform because strolling around as myself at night would have caused stupid questions from my in law, those idiots were pains in my ass.
With a map and a huge gun tucked under my right arm, I stumbled as silently as I could across the place trying my best not to get lost in this huge bullshit maze for the rest of my life.
I walked past a hundred doors and a thousand paintings in a span of ten minutes. Cursing to myself, I stopped in front of a huge painting of the late King. Dalton Hasting, my least favorite person on earth at the moment.
He just had to befriended my grandfather and got me stuck in this mess. Who on their right mind would become best friend with a mafia king. The man was insane, both of them.
My first mistake was when I almost dropped the heavy gun on the ground at the sound of footsteps coming toward my way. I was about to walk away when a sweet voice stopped me in track as a hand was placed firmly on my shoulder. I cursed in my head.
Fuck my life. I couldn't even be a doctor like I wanted to and now I couldn't even be a guard in peace. What the fuck did I do in my past life to deserve this shit?
" Hey. You. What are you doing? Why are you standing in the dark? "
She stepped around and stood in front of me with her hands on her hips, in the nightgown which I wouldn't mind burning. I adjusted my hat so it would cover half of my face before dipping my head down to stare at the ground. She cleared her throat one more time.
Good to know she couldn't recognize her own husband for the love of God.
" What's your name? "
Shit. What was my name? Fuck.
" Excuse me? "
In my fakest voice, I muttered the first name that came to mind. " Chandler Lincoln, your highness. "
" You sound awfully familiar. "
I was about to answer her when she grabbed my shoulders and pushed me against the wall, caging me between her arms.
Gulping at the sudden movement and the awkward position, I quickly shifted my eyes down to our connected chests. I felt my heart quickened above its normal rate and my blood pressure rose in an inhumanly rate.
