Pain Too Horrible

There is only an eerie silence that comes with darkness. Our flashlight cuts through the darkness like a knife cuts through butter although it's not very bright. We can see only a few steps ahead of us and you can hear every little sound imaginable. I look at Jake with a worried expression and he tightens his grip on my hand. We start to walk forward and its like our steps are thunder. Jake points the flashlight at our feet and then around the area revealing that we are in a tunnel seemingly cut out of the mountain rock. We try not to say a word for fear of how loud our voices would ring through this place so we continue walking, our flashlight pointed up ahead. We walk for only a couple miles before I see a soft blue light coming from what looks like the end of the tunnel. I look at Jake and he looks at me. He nods and we start to be more cautious now as we approach. As we get closer, the tunnel starts to open up into a large room. Once we are in, we marvel at the sight before our eyes. Its a futuristic place with little gadgets and machinery all around. Large metal tables hold syringes and microscopes; small, metal balls and spider looking things. Me and Jake split up to cover more ground and study as much as we can. Jake goes to look at more tables holding different items and I look around. I spot something very gigantic in the corner of the room and I walk up to it slowly, trying to be careful. Its a massive circle standing on a massive base, both metal with little blue lights all around it. The inside of the circle holds what look like restraints for arms and legs all an equal distance apart from each other. The base has a bunch of wires attached all around it, leading into the wall. I stare at this for a moment trying to figure out what its use is as it sends shivers down my spine.
"Jake.." I say ,motioning for him to come over. As we walks in my direction, my body starts to stiffen and breathing starts to get harder.
"Look." I tell him in a trembling voice. He picks up on my fear and takes my hand once again. I squeeze his in mine and I try to control my breaths.
"What is this thing?" He asks me.
"I don't know, but I have a bad feeling about it." Just then I remember something that makes me drop Jake's hand and stumble backwards. Jake catches me before I fall and asks what's wrong.
"I've seen this thing before." I say just barely loud enough for him to hear me.
"What do you mean?"
I look in his eyes and say, "When my mother was dying, I would see this in my dreams. It would flash in my mind for only a second and then be gone. This left me in so much shock and fear that I would wake up right after it disappeared from my mind." He looks at me speechless, looks at the machine, and then back at me again. I break his gaze and look at the machine. As soon as my eyes lay on it, I feel a pulse in my head. I put my hand to my temple and close my eyes. The pulsing gets worse and I open my eyes at Jake. His mouth is moving but I can't hear him. I stumble to the wall and look around the room. I look back and forth, not at the machine, and see nothing. There is another pulse and I know that he's behind me. I turn around hesitantly as another pulse spikes through my brain. Standing there, in the middle of the base is the stranger. The shadow figure who I've come to fear and hate. I look at Jake which causes another horrible spike through my brain. He's standing there, staring at the shadow figure. He notices me looking at him and races over. He stands between me and the stranger and I try to look back with another head splitting pulse. I fall to the ground as the pain gets to be too much to handle and I can tell I'm screaming by my mouth movements but I still can't hear anything. I barely see Jake bend down to look at me with tears in his eyes and then he gets flung away by the stranger, I'm assuming. His terrifying white eyes lock with mine and the biggest pulse I've ever felt cracks through my mind like lightning. It happens over and over again and just as I'm about to pass out, the pain lightens the slightest bit. The shadow slowly walks toward me and kneels down. He lifts my chin with his finger like he did last time in the desert. I try to pull my head away but I am too weak to move. Suddenly, I can hear him as though his voice is in my mind.
"Hey again princess. Don't even try to move or say anything. You know what I can do if you decide you want to try and fight me." He smirks and I can feel another pulse in my head as he speaks again in his dark voice.
"You like my little friend over there?" He says as he slightly points his head in the direction of the big circle thing.
"That's called the Domination Ring and what it does is, it drains life but not just any kind of life..Oh no sweetheart, it drains special life." He says with a grimacing laugh in a low voice. He stands up and walks around my helpless body, slowly.
"I made it myself, you know. Everything you see here, was made by my own hands and they contribute to a bigger domination that will come to this planet but that won't be happening quite yet. Right now, I have my focus on something sweeter." He roughly brushes my cheek with his hand and then goes to a table and picks something up.
"You see Rachel, you're more special than you realize." He laughs and picks me up. As he touches me, a huge pulse hits my brain again like a dagger.  He hooks me up to the "Domination Ring" but I can't fight back as much as I want to. He then takes a small knife from his trench coat and slits my forearm with it. I scream in agony as tears fall from my eyes and my blood drips down into the base. The severe pain comes back to my head as he starts to speak again.
"He can't protect you from me, darling." He says in a harsh tone as he points to Jake. I try to glimpse at him through my tears and blurry vision but all I can see is his body laying on the ground.
"And you can't protect yourself. You can't stay away from me...I am everywhere. I'm in your head. And the pain you're about to experience, well..." He pauses and laughs manically and then the head splitting pain comes back. I scream in pain, tears coming like a river from my eyes. I see him push a small, blue button which activates something on the Ring but that's all I see before I succumb to the pain and blackout.
