When I got to Jake's house I threw myself into his arms and started crying, pouring every tear that I had held back for my father out onto Jake!
"What is wrong Rachel?" he said so tenderly after dealing with my tears for half and hour. "My.... My father... he.. got it." I choked out. "Oh no, Rachel! I'm so sorry!"
"Its not your fault, you know we cant do anything about it." He brought me to the kitchen and gave me a glass of water and a cupcake he had been leaving for me. I nibbled on the cupcake as I talked to him. "We need to go." I said carelessly forgetting Jake had his own family. "Why?"
"I know you have your own family to look after but, sense my father is gone, I can finally go and do what I've been itching to do." I said. I stared at him for a minute and finally said, "I need to find out what keeps our planet alive, I need to find our planets Life Source." after a minute of staring and nibbling, Jake finally said "Okay, lets go."
"Are you sure?" I asked hoping he would say yes. "Yes, I'm here for you! Let's do this." and without another word he left to his room and was back in 5 minutes with a packed back. I grabbed my bag while he was writing a note to his parents. Then we headed out the door, with only each other and what we are bringing with us. Toward my only life goal right now, hoping we dont die because without Jake, my best friend, I would be completely lost. "You Live... You Die, with no Purpose" we spoke to each other, and then we were on our way.
