Jake reaches into his bag and pulls out some rope that he ties Grayson's wrists together with.
"I'm being careful. Like you said." He says as he looks at me.
"I know. Thank you." He nods and sits back with me, quietly while we wait for him to wake up. After what seems like a millennia, he finally wakes up with a jolt, trying to pull his hands up in front of him.
"Why?" He says with a grunt.
"Take a wild guess pal." Jake says in an annoyed tone as Grayson scoffs and turns away. Jake inches his way toward him slowly.
"Jake." I whisper to him. He motions to me that its ok and continues to move until he is in front of Grayson.
"Why did you cut Rachel's face?" He speaks, calmly.
"Because I felt like it." He says with a smile. Jake slowly makes a fist on the ground and I call out to him in an attempt to distract him. I motion for him to come to me and he does.
"Calm down, okay? He can't do anything anymore. He's trying to get to you." I say as I take his hand.
"I know, I know. I just can't help it."
"I understand just, please calm down." He nods and turns back to Grayson who has his gaze fixed on me. Jake speaks in his authoritative voice.
"Alright so here's the deal. Sense I'm a nice guy, unlike you, I'll let you stay sense you have no where to go but you're gonna be tied up like that for a while now because I no longer trust you to be free. You will walk in front of me all the time so I can watch you and you will stay away from Rachel at all times. No exceptions. If we're in danger, you're on your own. I will not wait on you or save you from anything. Now...we're gonna try to figure out what is going on with this butcher house and this village. Be quiet unless you have something useful to say. Got it?" There is silence before Grayson finally nods his head. Jake stands up and pulls me up with him at the same time Grayson also stands. Jake pushes him in front of us like a police officer whose escorting a criminal. He points to a spot on the ground and tells to Grayson to wait there. He hesitates before he complies. I cautiously walk into the butcher house with Jake on my heels to take a better look around. I walk up to a corner that is filled with covered limbs or something.
"So Grayson brought up the idea that these are human victims. We need to see what kind of limbs these are." Jake nods in a sickly manner and hesitates before he pulls the covering off and low and behold, Grayson was right. Human legs and arms are in this corner and they look fresh like they were brutally cut apart from their bodies only hours ago but the fingers and toes are missing. The sight of this gives me a strong feeling of nausea before I continue on to the next corner. I look at Jake and he pulls the covering off this corner revealing the core of a body; no limbs and no heads. I gag as the blood drips down from the neck and turn into Jake for a moment before we continue on. The next corner contains the very fingers and toes that were missing on limbs.
"One body part left." I say to myself, dreading what I'm about to see. We move to the last corner and I take a deep breathe as Jake pulls the last covering off. Chills run down my spine as I look at the heaping pile of heads before me, all the same look. Deathly pale skin that's starting to decompose leaving behind a putrid smell. All eyes are open, completely white as each tongue hangs out from its mouth. I can't stand the horror of this anymore so I run outside before my gut turns inside out. Jake runs after me, closing the door behind him.
"Those have been there longer." I whisper to him.
"I know but why? Why are they leaving the heads to decompose and not the other things? Why are there even humans in there?! Where did they come from?"
"I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. It doesn't make any sense."
"They all came from this very village." Grayson says out of nowhere.
"What do you mean?" Jake asks.
"You realize how we haven't seen but 2 people sense we got here? Where do you think everyone else went?" I look at the house in front of me, terrified with a blank mind. I don't know what to think. I blurt out the first thing that comes to mind.
"But why-?" Jake cuts me off. "When and how?" He continues as though he could read my mind. Grayson shrugs and smiles.
"Maybe we should talk to the people who are actually here." He says, mysteriously. I recall the memory of a young women and what looked like a child. "Mother and son? Mother and daughter? No relation at all?" I ask myself.
"Wow, for once you actually had a good idea." Jake says as Grayson grins. "Don't let that get to your head, mate." His face goes neutral immediately.
"Now its just a matter of finding them and who knows if they'll actually tell us anything." I nod my head in agreement and bite my nails as I think. Jake pulls my hand away from me and motions with his head that he wants to talk privately. I let him pull me aside.
"You're biting your nails. Whenever you do that, something is wrong." He says, softly.
"I just have a bad feeling like whatever has happened here...is really dark. I'm getting a sense that we shouldn't find out."
"You know we have to though." I sigh and look at the ground.
"Yeah, I know."
"I'm here for you Rache. Whatever we find out, IF we find out...I got you."
"I know." He pulls me into a tight hug and kisses my head.
"Oh, how sweet!" Grayson shouts at us, sarcastically. Jake turns to look at him and responds, "Just shut up and start walking."
