"Stop! What are you doing?!" Chloe cried out, bringing me back to reality. My eyes finally came into focus to see Kelsey exploding every last drop of emotion she had in her, released onto Kevin! I assumed Lukas and Bryson weren't there, since Kevin screamed out louder than the four of us were. Chloe, Taylor, and I got up and took the ropes off from around our waists. Kelsey grabbed the baseball bat which was lying by his feet. Kelsey grabbed it insanely fast and whacked Kevin upside the head a couple of times.
The moment we had been waiting for for months arrived. Was Kevin dead? He collapsed to the floor as Kelsey tried to catch her breath. He was motionless. She held the bat up and turned around to face us. She appeared, almost possessed.
"Is he dead..?" Chloe stammered. No one responded.
"Where's Lukas and Kevin?" I asked the room.
"I heard them leave hours ago, and left Kevin in charge," Taylor answered.
"Let's just leave, come on," I suggested. Of course, as I said that, Lukas and Bryson came through the squeaky side door.
"Of course," Taylor sighed.
"Goddamn it!" I groaned. Just as we each sat down, Kevin groaned. He wasn't dead!
"Kev! What happened?!" Lukas cried, running to his side. Bryson stood behind Lukas crouching.
"You know damn well what happened, and who did this Lukas!" Kevin groaned agitatedly, feeling the blood come from his head. Lukas chose Kelsey and took her to the basement with Kevin. Bryson stared emotionless down the hall to the basement. He eventually left our door cracked, and went to a different area of the house. The three of us made an effort to tune out her constant blood-curdling screams, by talking.
"Why was there a baseball bat in the hallway in the first place?" I questioned.
"Since they left him in charge he was gonna knock one of us out or something. He said a lot of dumb shit Kassidy," Chloe explained.
"I don't understand how she beat him so fiercely. It's like she was an entirely different person. Did you guys see her eyes?!" I asked them, raising my eyebrows in astonishment.
"She's been seeing and smelling things we cannot lately. Remember the fire smelling and such?" Taylor said.
"Yeah, I think she just snapped from the abuse Kassidy..." Chloe told me depressingly.
Minutes passed until Lukas threw Kelsey back into the room and slammed the door. Kelsey's tears streamed down her face without hesitation.
"There's no point in trying to fight any more guys. We're never getting out of here..." Kelsey's words felt true. After about an hour of the room being silent, I spoke even though I assumed the other girls fell asleep.
"Have you guys ever actually thought about why we were kidnapped in the first place?" There it was, I finally said it aloud.
"You think there's a reason they took us besides the money?" Chloe asked confusedly.
"Of course there's a reason. Don't you guys see that the pain and everything they've done to us is personal?" I speculated aloud, "Am I the only one who's been noticing this?"
"No you're not," Taylor confessed, "I've realized this was way more personal when you told Lukas your name was Ally and he got all scared that he took the wrong girl."
"Then what could the reason possibly be?" Chloe questioned.
"I never even saw either of these white trash heads before this," Kelsey added.
"Neither have I, but I've asked Lukas why he took us before, and I just got a 'Because I could' response," I explained, scratching my leg. As the night led on, we each pondered about what we could have done to deserve this abuse. The house was silent for about an hour until bare footsteps trudged down the hallway passing our room. The man was crying.
"Bry, don't tell Kevin okay?" Lukas pleaded, followed by a couple of sniffles.
"Don't tell him what?" Bryson asked from the kitchen, moving closer to Lukas.
"That I'm crying," Lukas wept.
"I think if he saw this, he'd understand Lukas. It's your brother for god's sake!"
"Maybe. I just miss him so much..." I let my ears hear Lukas' cries for several minutes. This wasn't a show he was putting on for us. This was an actual sincere moment. Lukas' cry sounds upset my stomach.
"You guys hear that?" Kelsey asked, interrupting my thoughts.
"Yep," I responded.
"Is that Lukas crying?" Chloe questioned the obvious.
"It sounds like it," Taylor said.
"But who is he crying over? A girl?" Chloe asked, followed by a slight chuckle.
"I don't think so. I think I heard Bryson mention a brother?" I shrugged.
"I don't know guys, let's just sleep on it," Chloe suggested, as she turned over towards Kelsey. The rest of us fell asleep not long after that.
