butterfly

in my eyes you're adorned
with patterns I'll never see
colors id never dare think of
the little quirks that make you so you
on another wing or antennae
is nowhere to be found

yet you've woven yourself into a
caricature of an entity that i cannot comprehend, cannot understand
you fascinate me, an enigma
of a soulless two-winged creature
failing to see the majesty of it all

i love, therefore i hunt
with every flap and tear and
chrysalis broken down i
will hunt for a butterfly that is
adorned with patterns I've never seen
and colors id never dare think of again
