Suddenly, without warning the teen let out a loud cry of pain, startling everyone around them.
What was happening?! This wasn't the result they had expected!
No, no, no what were they going to do now?!
"Hey, hey what's wrong?" Artios asked (demanded), trying not to panic for Ivy's sake (but kind of miserably failing at it).
The head of the palace guard on the other hand didn't have similar plans, instead, instantly going for the attack head on.
"What did you do to him?!" Nefari yelled, running to kneel beside her little brother, trying to yank him out of Artios' arms. "Hey Vee, tell me what's happening! Now!"
The small teen continued to scream and cry in pain without response, moving closer into the swordsman's chest, and desperately clutching his tattered shirt.
Okay, now Artios was really panicking.
"You did this on purpose!" Nefari glowered in anger, pulling forward her sword to attack the thief, however before they could get into a fight, one of the doctors stopped her.
"Wait, look." The doctor pointed at the vine on Ivy's foot, which was slowly fading away. "It's working. The Luna is working! It's a miracle!"
"The process must be extremely painful, which could be the cause for the young prince's reaction, however it looks like his condition will be cured." The doctor explained with a shocked but sympathetic expression.
After that something completely unexpected happened. The last thing Artios had ever expected to see in his entire lifetime. No but seriously, finding the Luna was unbelievable and all, however this was beyond the limits of magic.
Nefari slowly sheathed her sword and... began to cry?!
The swordsman rubbed his eyes to see if he were dreaming and would wake up in the prison again only to realize he had been asleep the whole time, but it was real.
"I was so scared when he went missing, I thought I would never see him again! But it's all going to be okay now. Vee's okay... My little brother will live to see another day!" She wiped her eyes with the back of her hands, a little bit of dust smearing on her face as tears continued to spill down her cheeks without stopping.
Artios' jaw dropped in shock. He had literally never seen the head of the palace guard ever show any emotion, like at all, let alone cry. She never even smiled when she won!
Now that the swordsman thought about it, she had been acting a lot more impulsive than usual during their fight earlier.
Normally she was a very careful and calculating person as the thief had come to know through all of his past encounters with her. However this time she had kept landing attack after attack refusing to even listen to Artios for a brief moment.
She must've been really worried and scared too. She must care about Ivy a lot...
"Prepare the royal carriage. We are taking Prince Ivory home!" Nefari commanded with an ecstatic grin, eyes puffy after crying that much.
Ivory. That was his full name. This was Artios' first time hearing it. It had a nice ring to it. Ivory. Prince Ivory.
A beautiful name for a beautiful person... Artios thought unconsciously before quickly snapping back to reality. Ew, what just came out of his brain?! Never again.
