After Ivy's fever broke, they realized that although the vine had completely disappeared, the teen's leg was still far from fully healed and that he wasn't going to be able to walk on it for a while.
They found out, when the young prince had tried to get out of bed for the first time, but almost fell over as soon as his foot hit the ground, a sharp pain riding up his calf.
Luckily Artios was able to catch Ivy right before he crashed into the floor, and place him back into bed (to the teen's disappointment) before he could hurt himself any further.
In the end, the doctors decided that Ivy needed to walk around on a pair of fancy crutches until his leg healed, which the small teen wasn't too thrilled about, but accepted enthusiastically in place of his twenty-four seven bed-rest.
As soon as Ivy was able to properly move around on his own with his crutches, Artios was instructed to start his own community service and therapy, which he may or may not have forgotten about.
Luckily the man was still allowed to see Ivy every morning before he started, and evening after he was done, just like today.
However this time was slightly different than their usual meetings...
"Hey, I-I brought you here today cuz I have something to ask you, something a bit more serious." Artios started nervously as they walked through the palace garden early morning. It was Ivy's favorite place.
The swordsman had been waiting for the smaller teen to get a little better and get back into routine before bringing it up, because the man didn't want to put too much on Ivy's plate when he already wasn't feeling well.
But the boy seemed to have recovered mostly by now, so he thought that it was probably a good time to talk about it. "If you're not ready, we can talk about it later too."
"You can ask me anything Art." Ivy smiled, silvery locks falling out of place as the wind gently carded through them.
The young prince took a small step closer to the ex-thief, now naturally moving around in his crutches as though they were a part of his body.
Those crutches really were excessively fancy for something that was a temporary necessity, but they suited Ivy.
It's shiny gold colour brought out the teen's eyes, and the colorful studs lined up around the handle, along with the fluff on top that acted as a cushion for his arms, made up for his spirited and eccentric personality where his simple, white, lacy nightgown couldn't.
It really did look good on him. Somehow everything did.
What were they doing again?Right. Important question.
Artios realized he had been staring for too long and quickly cleared his throat, hoping Ivy hadn't noticed, "I found these."
He pulled out two wooden keychains from his pocket, instantly making the smaller teen's cheeks become flushed.
"T-those are-, did you-, I-, Where-"
"Ivy," Artios gently slipped Ivy's small hands into his own to get the teen's attention and stop his flustered rambling.
The boy went silent, golden-blue orbs wide as he stared into the older's unusually warm eyes.
"I wanted to give you this." Artios fished out a beautiful necklace with a delicate gold chain from his pocket, and held it out next to the small teen's lean neck with a nervous blush, "Can I?"
