song is this is getting over you by alkaline trio. idk why the songs only seem to pop up on desktop but What The Hell Ever, I guess.Leo slipped into Spanish class a solid 10 minutes before it ended. Ms. Noriega had stopped him, deer in headlights as he passed her desk, let him know they'd be having "a little talk" after class, but she didn't count him as absent, thank god. Just late.
JoJo wasn't there at all. Leo grabbed both their backpacks from their spot by the door and was holding JoJo's to his chest and smelling it like a creep. He was still worked up from the encounter with the campus cop, and the backpack was a small comfort. The way JoJo smelled was kind of hard to place. There was vanilla and cigarettes in there somewhere, but mostly he just smelled like JoJo.
He was ten more seconds from texting JoJo when the man of the hour opened the door. Ms. Noriega seemed to give him the same treatment she'd given Leo. He just nodded and made his somber way over to his desk. He looked wrecked, slumped into his seat with a sigh.
"Jo?" Leo turned in his seat, backpack on his lap. The class was in whispers now given the proximity of the next bell. "What's going on?"
JoJo groaned and put his head on the desk to create a fort with his arms. "I don't want to get into it." He grabbed blindly for Leo's hand and, once found, placed it on his head. "I have a headache."
Leo nodded, though JoJo couldn't see, and began drawing shapes on his scalp with his fingers. A heart, a star, a series of circles.
JoJo piped up again moments later. "What happened with you and Jun?"
"Nothing really," Leo said. You know, like a liar. "I mean, he wanted me to be his boyfriend but I said
no 'cuz I don't like him like that."JoJo peeked his green eyes out of his fort. "Really?"
"Yeah, I dunno. We're still friends, gonna keep hanging out or whatever. Just not dating." Leo gave his head an extra scruff. "Plus, I think he's jealous of you. Kept asking about us n' whatnot."
JoJo snorted and hid his face again. "Jackass."
"It's so weird, I thought you guys were fine-"
"We were," JoJo admitted. "until he was all over you. I just get, uh, protective. You know that though."
"I should get you a collar that says 'attack dog'." Leo mused, not considering how fucked up that could come across. "Wait-"
JoJo shrugged. "I'd wear it." He would. If people thought they were kinky, they'd really leave them alone. Well, maybe.
"I know." Leo rolled his eyes and the bell rang. Students began filing out of the classroom, and Leo was thankful Asshat Craig hadn't said anything to them. He didn't know what else he could take for the day.
"I hope you boys haven't forgotten about our meeting." Ms. Noriega was at her desk typing away, black hair pulled into a half-up, half-down sort of thing.
"No way," JoJo made his way to the front, Leo trailing behind. They stood in silence for a moment, not sure whether to expect an onslaught of questions, a lecture, or worse — both.
"Is everything okay with you two? We've had a lot of disturbances these past two classes." She looked pointedly between them. So much teen angst, such scrawny teens.
