I snuck out early the next morning. I saw the kid sleeping in his bed with his glove tucked into his arms. I smiled. I left a note in his loft before climbing out the window. I stop at a diner to use the bathroom and wash up. Just as I walk out gunshots go off. I duck behind the counter. I quickly scramble to grab my phone from my bag. I turn on a recording and chuck it like a grenade out to the middle of the diner. I relax until the noise gets louder. My eyes instantly open and I growl loudly

Man- it's the Hertz!!! Everybody down!!!

My body twitched and spazzed. I climbed over the counter in a monster-like form. People shoot at me. I charge at them at full speeds angrily. I jump onto a gunman and bite his head. Bullets smacked my skin, leaving tiny burning patches. My tongue shoots through the air like a fly before penetrating through another gunman's chest, tearing out their heart. They fall. One charges at me from behind but I turn and stab them through the head with my sharp pincered hand. I kill the last by stepping on them and squashing their head like a bug under my two toed foot. I find my phone and stab it with my pincer, leaving a circular hole. Causing my spazzing to calm down as I fall. I wake a second later back into my original form. People looked at me. I saw a boy on the ground horrified.

Me- are you okay?? Are you hurt??

He looks at me scared. I heard police sirens. I quickly gathered my bag and the fresh hearts from the warm corpsesfor food. I checked each of the dead gunmen and took their phones.

Me- someone check on the boy

I ran out the back door. I took off my hood and put it in my bag, revealing my white shirt. I take off my hat and tuck it in there as well, parting my hair to look half decent. I grab a baseball cap and pair of sunglasses off a table and put them on. I take a fresh lit cigarette from a man's hand and pop it in my mouth. I walk past the policemen with ease. I find an old man drunk and asleep on the sidewalk, ditched by someone it looked like. I took his wallet which was filled with cash, meth from his pocket, I assume he got his money from drug dealing. I pack away my new finds before walking away
