⌲ ❝ it's okay ❞
『 bokuto kotarou × akaashi keiji 』

⸙.

『良いことはいつも永遠に続くわけではありません。』

"Akaashi, I really like you."

I blinked. He did the same. I furrowed my brows. He did the same. I can feel my cheeks warming up. He hid his reddish ears from my sight by covering them with his hands.

"W... what?"

I mean, it's the Bokuto- Bokuto Koutaro. The ace of Fukurodani's Boys Volleyball Club. One of the top 3 aces in Japan.

"Please go out with me!" It was almost unbelievable to see him bow ninety degrees in front of me. I can see the sweat building upon his forehead, the eyes that remain closed shut the entire time, and the shivering arm that he extended with a rose gently placed inside his palm.

"Bokuto-san, I..." I looked around- hoping that it is just a prank, but the rooftop isn't occupied by anyone aside from the two of us. "... I don't know what to say..."

"I've been hiding it for a year now, but I couldn't stay put if I didn't tell you," Bokuto-san's voice trailed off, nervous. "I-I... If you don't feel the same, that's alright too, but, b-but..."

I don't know how am I supposed to react. I just started my second year since I enrolled in this school. It's only been a year since I got to play setter for Bokuto-san. A year. Not that much if you compare it to the rest of my lifespan.

"Well..."

"A-Akaashi?"

How am I supposed to answer this? Well, there's one thing that I can assure him right now.

"I'll be waiting for you tomorrow, then," I took the rose from his hand, discreetly smiling as I tuck it in the small gap between my bag's zippers. "We better walk to school tomorrow, Bokuto-san."

"H-huh?"

"See you."

"Huh? Wait, Akaashi-!"

I can assure him that... that confession made me absolutely happy.

"Akaashi! Akaashi!"

Bokuto-san is a loud and remarkable person- he wouldn't stop and think about his thoughts before saying it out loud. He never lies about something, and if he does, he's extremely terrible at it.

"What is it, Bokuto-san?"

"Look," Bokuto-san grinned as he shows me a live beetle in a jar. The cover has holes, so the beetle can breathe just fine. "I caught a large one with Broccoli-kun! Isn't this amazing?"

"It is amazing, but I don't want to see a live beetle right now."

"E-eh? Really?!"

"Really." He frowned, pouting as he puts the beetle back in his bag. He complains about how he was looking forward to show it and how he never stopped bugging Ogano-san about it.

I sighed. Nobody would think about showing an insect at a picnic. He acts on his own and he never listens to anyone. As if he was beating to his own drum. Rather than adjusting for the rest of the crowd, he'll make the crowd adjust to his liking instead.

"Then, what do you want to do right now, Akaashi?"

"None in particular." I stretched my arms up- we just finished our final exams, and this is a way of making Bokuto-san forget that he probably failed his Mathematics again. I was hoping that he doesn't because I taught him for a month. "Probably rest."
