Clarke POV
Clarke was sitting in her cell, drawing on the floor. She was drawing what she thinks the ground would look like. The trees, the sky, the water, the grass, the water.
Clarke was sixteen years old. Her mom was a doctor and her dad was an engineer. Her dad found an issue with oxygen. He was gonna be floated because he wanted to go public but my mom got him to not go public with it. That's why she was locked up in my cell.
Clarke tried to let the Ark know about how the oxygen system is failing but Marcus Kane, one of the leaders on the Ark, found out and turned her in. Clarke was too young to be floated so she was thrown in a cell until she turned eighteen. When she turns eighteen, her case is reviewed and she could be freed but the chances of that happening are more likey of her going to the ground.
Clarke got off the floor and went over to her bed. She lifted up the mattress and grabbed a book that was from 'old earth times'. It was called The Giver. It is kind of boring but it's something to do instead of rotting in a cell.
Clarke laid down in her bed and opened to the page where she left off. She was reading the part around when they were getting their jobs.
Clarke read for about two minutes before she heard her cell door start to unlock. Clarke quickly stuffed the book under her matteress and rolled over on her side. The door opened.
"Hey, hey hey. I liked my cell." A female voice said. "If anything she should be the one moving cells. It was self defense. She started to talk about my height. I'm not even that short. I'm like average height for a girl my age. I talked back and she started the fight."
"Shut up and go in." A man's voice said. Clarke rolled onto her back and sat up.
"You are extra bossy today." The girl said, as a guard pushed her into the cell. The girl was around her age, dark brown hair, blue-ish green eyes and was about five foot five.
"Prisoner 319, you have a cellmate. Get used to it." The guard said, unlocking the girls cuffs.
"Listen, you should have told me she was hot and I would have just walked right in." The girl said, massaging her wrist. The guard mumbled something and then walked out. Clarke got off the bed.
"Who are you?" Clarke asked.
"Octavia Blake." The girl said. "Okay, so we got no time to mess around. Your mom, you know, Doctor Griffin, she is getting you out tonight."
"What?"
"So long story short, as you know, you are banned from any vistors. Your mom has been meeting with me and we have a plan set up. Today, Kane, your mom, Jaha and all those people are voting on whether or not the floating age should be sixteen because the oxygen is failing." Octavia said. "You are sixteen and will be floated so you are being sent to the ground."
"Sorry?"
"You are going to the ground."
"I'll die, the ground is still full of radiation."
"If you stay up here, you'll die. If you go down there, you might live and if you do die, you die on the ground." Octavia said. "If I were you, I'd rather the ground option."
"I'm still confused."
"Sorry, I suck at explaining shit. Jaha and them are voting to change the floating age to sixteen to make more time to fix the oxygen problem. Your mom built a drop pod or whatever you call it for you to go down in. Abby kind of knew this was gonna happen so she found someone that could fix up a pod for you to go down in."
"When is this happening?" Clarke asked.
"Uh soon." Octavia said. "They should be voting about now. Your mom will come in shortly after that."
"Okay, but why are you here?"
"I started a fight with my cellmate and they moved me. I'm not really a threat so I can be moved anywhere."
"Then why are you in the Skybox?"
"I was born." Octavia said.
"Second child." Clarke said and Octavia nodded.
"Yeah, I didn't kill anyone or steal anything so it's not like I need to be watched carefully." Octavia looked around. "I would say pack what you need but..." Octavia shrugged. "We don't have anything to pack."
"Am I going alone?"
"Yep." Octavia said. "You'll get bragging rights, I was the first person on the ground in almost one hundred years."
"I'm gonna be alone, on earth, by myself." Clarke said to no one.
"Maybe you'll find a hot boyfriend or girlfriend or person or people or whoever you prefer." Octavia said. "Do you think I'm short?"
"We are the same height so no."
"If you call me short you are calling yourself short." Octavia climbed up on the top bunk. "You remind me of your mom a lot."
"Well she's my mom so I'd hope so."
"You know what I mean, asshole."
"I get told that I remind people of my dad most of the time."
"I've never met your dad so I wouldn't know." Octavia said.
"Why don't they just send the kids in the Skybox to the ground instead of floating them?"
"We have limited dropships. They wouldn't want to waste materials, food and what not on something that could fail."
"You are giving me so much hope right now." Clarke sighed.
"Look at it this way. You rot in this cell until you get floated or you could go to the ground. Like I said, would you rather die on this rust bucket or the ground."
"The ground." Clarke answered.
"Plus on the ground, you might live too."
"I just hate that I'm going alone."
"I'm not supposed to tell you this but they are looking at sending everyone to the ground." Octavia said. "You'll only be alone for like a month at most."
"If I last that long."
