My Life is a Perfect Lie

Episode 1

Episode 1 

I work in Paints and Brushes. it's a company that provides painting services. Here in this company we paint almost everything. Your walls, house, doors, floors, ceilings, furniture, compound walls, window panes etc. You name it, we paint it" that's our tagline. 

I sit in my chair in front of my laptop. I design drawings to be painted of the things. I draw a design and draw a few different versions of it and email to my boss. She checks it and calls me. I go inside her cabin and as usual she looks at me top to bottom. One by one, she stares at my straight black hair that reaches my last ribs, my round black glasses, my lips colored red, white full sleeves blouse, black pencil skirt that stops just above my knees and my three inches black heels. 

"How do you manage to look that good everyday? ", She asks. 

"Thanks", I say. 

"The client liked the black and white version of the design"

"Okay. I'll take the print outs and pass it to George"

"Yeah. Do that but I want you to go there. I want you to paint the design. The client has demanded perfection...."

"But we do that always " 

"and you. The client has demanded perfection and you. He wants the walls to be painted by the same person who drew the designs "

"Okay"

I don't argue because that's what I wanted for a year and a half now. The opportunity to get colorfully messy, the opportunity to feel the colours again. Being in office is quite boring I tell you. 

I go to the basement where all the members of the project meet and plan things. George is the head of the department. The department which converts my imagination into reality, the painting department. This is the department where I began my journey of working in this company. I worked here for like two and a half years and got promoted to the office department where everybody works with laptops and papers. It's so passive and boring. I didn't say no to the promotion back then because the need to feed my tummy was greater than the need to feed my soul. Many times I requested them to let me work here for at least one project but that never happened. But today out of the blue I get this opportunity, just love it. 

For this project I  work with Teena and Kabir. They are new here. I put on my shortalls, collect the print outs, business card and leave the building with Teena and Kabir. 

A Mercedes waits for us infront of the gate. George told us about this. But I wonder why? No client has done this before. Too much for somebody who is working for you like a labour or something,  you know. Anyway I think I am just over thinking. I decide just to do my business and return home. 

We three get in the car and it pulls away. It's so smooth that if you fall asleep you won't wake up otherwise. Well, we reach the destination in no time. They take us inside the building which looks like a huge Palace from outside. 

We take elevator to the top floor and it opens in a space enclosed by some walls. This place is huge and empty, it's under renovation. George told us, the project is for renovation. I guess we are supposed to paint these walls, but how am I supposed to paint the walls that don't seem to end!
