It was a hard and long ride for Teriel and the riders around her, both on the ground and in the air. Magic barriers of themselves in different methods of illusions and false images were conquered quickly and mysterious on their way to the Tower.
The two elves can see through magic of illusions, but the human General and the dwarf saw the illusions are real objects and were easily frightened at the sight.
Since it was in the duration of the sun in the middle of the day, Teriel shot out magic arrows through the illusions that berated Khon if his brain was heavy on alcohol.
All magic illusions were of cloudy figures to make a figure look real. Dragons and big winged monsters of the sky caused Khon to try to fight back with only his wyvern breathe its fire-breathing smoke from its mouth.
And it would take Teriel to shoot a magic arrow toward the illusion Khon's pet dragon was attacking, which was just a puff of cloud when Teriel's arrow shot it. This caught Khon by surprise to see many illusions of dragons and winged creatures circulating in the sky that his wyvern can't cut through.
"Can't you tell what a false image is and what is reality, old man?" asked Teriel, having her griffin flying next to the General's wyvern, which was three times the size of the griffin.
"Sorry, I done battle my life I don't know the difference between illusion magic and a real image," the General replied, apologetically.
"Well, get to know what is real and what isn't, or I just may find someone else to be a leading general," said Teriel, whipping another magic arrow shot toward another illusion of a giant griffin creature ten times the size of Teriel's griffin.
"The real thing around here is the..."
A squeak of a woman's voice shattered Teriel's speaking, and it came from the clouds above. Then more than fifty women with feathered wings and bird claws descended like falcons with small, white-bearded men with colored caps mounted atop their shoulders.
"...harpies and gnomes. Oh, fuck this shit to hell!" said Teriel, finishing her line with annoyance to see the harpies again with gnomes to the worst part of it.
It was harpies and gnomes. The harpies flew in unison in the illusions created by the gnomes on the harpies' backs. The gnomes were skilled in magic of hallucination to any mortal's eyes, unless the mortal was a heavy magic user skilled in the arts of magic. The dark elf and the Elf Lord were greatly skilled in magic spells to counter against the gnomes' hallucination spells, but the human and the dwarf had big muscles that didn't have the skill to use the false images conjured by the little, small, bearded tricksters.
To deal with them quickly, the dark elf had the griffin fly with a horde of the harpies and the gnomes. This surrounded herself with many enemies, but they didn't seem to attack her or cause her any harm. Arelzi spoke words of a strange language of birds, and they seem to be understanding her.
Her words were a chanting or a taunting tone to make the harpies lose focus of the enemy and keep their eyes on her. Without having to pick a fight with them, the harpies ceased and disbanded against fighting against the demons of the sky. The harpies flew away, but the gnomes on the harpies' backs cursed wicked words to the harpies' ears humans wouldn't understand what were being said.
With her work, the flyers manage to continue without much of a threat.
"What did you do there?" aske Teriel, leveling her griffin to her brother's griffin.
"Someone we dark elves have been taught by the ancient evils long, distant Yin-Yang Warriors fought and killed long ago. The dark elves were the first mortal to be taught of dark languages to cast dark magic into the world, and it is a language only dark creatures, like me, can speak to other dark creatures like the harpies."
