I wake up to yelling downstairs. I recognize my parents voices and roll around, pushing my blanket over my head.

I hear my mom on the steps, rushing to my bedroom. I pull the covers off of my head, looking at the door, waiting for her to come in.

"Your father is crazy!" she says, walking around my room, going through my pants pockets.

She's looking for money, but I stopped leaving change in my pockets long ago.

"He thinks i'm just money hungry, isn't that crazy?" she says, her voice getting louder.

"What did you say?" I hear my dad yell from downstairs.

I sigh before getting out of bed and going into my bathroom. I turn on the faucet as I hear him storm up the stairs, waiting for my mother to repeat herself.

I wash my face and brush my teeth before walking back out, walking past them as they continue to argue.

I had a hair and nail appointment, and them arguing wasn't going to stop me. I take my shirt off and change into a white shirt with blue jeans, throwing a black sweatshirt over my other shirt.

I put on my socks and shoes before grabbing a purse that matches and leaving the closet. I walk past them as they continue to argue, grabbing my phone and keys and throwing them into my bag.

I walk out of the room and down the stairs. She trashed the first floor, per usual. I shake my head at her behaviour before walking out of my house and getting into my Land Rover.

I pull out my phone and respond to texts before putting it away and driving to the salon.

When I arrive, I grab my bag and get out of my car, locking the door behind me.

I spend about 5 hours in the salon, trying to procrastinate from going back home. It's so tiring just being there.

When I'm walking out, I get a call from Prim.

"Hello?" I say as I answer it, unlocking my door and getting in.

"Hi! Do you want to come over? I think it's a good idea so we can get ready together,"she says.

I couldn't tell if she was really clingy, or just lonely. I was going to reject her offer before I remember what I would be returning to.

"Yeah, I'll be there in a bit." I say.

I hear her squeal before she lets out a 'thank you' and hangs up. I start my drive to her house, thinking about how tomorrow is going to go.

Slater had the typical mafia boy reputation, manwhore, mean, aggressive. We were going to be too similar for our own good.

I pull up to her house eventually, and it takes a while for me to get through the gates.

"Jesus Christ." I say to myself as I finally pull into a part of their driveway.

I grab my bag and get out of the car, shutting the door behind me.

I look up when I hear running, seeing Prim rush over to me.

"I'm so excited! This is so fun!" she says.

"Yeah." I say.

We walk into her house, and she leads me to the kitchen, where her mother and father sit at the table.

I nod my head at the Don before doing the same to his wife.

When the Don sees me, he takes his wife's hand before leaving the room.

"Don't worry, it's not you. He's just closed off." Prim says, and I nod.

Prim starts to walk out and up the stairs, so I follow her.

"So I was thinking, we could do facemasks, hair masks, waxes, stuff like that?" She suggested.

"Totally, but no hair masks, I just got it done. And I don't need waxing. I got lazer a couple years back," I say, my mother had me immediately start laser therapy as soon as I hit puberty.

I see a frown fall on her face, but she's quick to smile.

"That's okay! We can do something else." she says, and I smile at her before nodding.

We were 30 minutes into face masks before I hear the door downstairs open. The sound of shoes hitting the floor makes me turn my head towards the door.

Prim and I look at eachother at the same time, before looking back at the door.

"What is that?" I whisper, hoping this is normal for her.

"I dont know." she whispers back.

I get up, walking as quietly as I can to the door, opening it up a little bit, pushing my head outside the door.

I heard men yelling, arguing with each other.

"Is that your brother?" I ask, recognizing the deep voice.

"Yes, it sounds like someone got hurt. Lets go." she says, pulling my hand and leading me out of her room and downstairs.

When we reach the first floor, I see The Don shaking his head, and the Donna looking at her son with worry in her eyes.

Their heads turn to us as Prim speaks up.

"What's going on?" she asks.

"Why is she here?" Slater says, making everyone look at me.

"I invited her. Were getting ready for tomorrow together, right?" Prim says as she looks at me.

"Yeah, we were actually going to stay upstairs until someone came in here yelling." I say, looking at Slater.

"No one told you to come down. You chose to." he says, as he walks past me, purposely pushing me with his shoulder.

I look at him as he walks away, and out of the door.

"He didn't mean that." Prim says as she looks at me, offering me a smile.

"It's okay, I don't really care." I say as I turn around and walk back up the stairs.

When we got back in her room, we continued with what we were doing until we both got tired.

Prim ended up falling asleep while we were finishing, so I just let her sleep.

I look for my bag and pull out my phone, scrolling through my notifications. I see my mom called me, and I call her back. I lean against Prim's bed frame as it rings.

"Aspen, where are you?" she says.

"Somewhere. Why?" I respond.

"I need you, your father left me, please come back, please?" she begs.

"No, Mom. No." I say, rubbing my eyes with my palm.

"You're never there when I need you! You expect me to go to your wedding tomorrow? Seriously?" she says, trying to make me feel bad.

"Come, or don't come. It won't matter anyways." I say as I get up and start walking around.

"Fine then, I won't. Fuck you, Aspen." she says before hanging up.

I shake my head at her words. There's a reason no one wants to be by her.

I get back on the bed, on the opposite side of Prim before getting under the blankets and looking at her wall.

She was blessed with a good mother. I've seen the way her mother was kind and sweet, everything my mother isn't.

I sigh before closing my eyes, using sleep to escape my problems.
