I immediately push my eyebrows up in shock when Slater finishes talking. Prim looked at me before looking back at Slater.

"I....I don't know what you want me to say." she mutters.

"I want you to tell me that it's not true. That your not stupid enough to be fucking with someone like Rain." he says, leaning forward.

"Listen, Slater-" Rain starts.

"Shut the fuck up, Rain." Slater says.

"No, I'm tired of this shit. How many times will you punish me for a mistake I made years ago?" Rain says.

"Until were fucking even." Slater says, standing up.

Rain stands up after him, which makes me stand up, which then makes Prim stand up.

"I've already apologized, I left for a year, and now that I'm finally moving on, it's a problem?" Rain says, walking towards Slater.

"You leaving didn't somehow fix everything. You left because you knew how pissed I was, how pissed Xander and Dame were. You knew youd get your fucking face beat in." Slater says as he meets Rain halfway.

I watch as Slater towers over Rain, how his bodys so composed but I knew he could be Rain's ass in a second.

I glance towards Dame and Xander, and notice them already ready to spring up from the couch if Rain wanted to fight.

"I see you around my sister again, and I won't just want to bash your face in. Ill fucking do it." Slater says, pushing past Rain.

Rain stumbles back after Slater pushes him. I glance at Prim and see her tear filled eyes staying on Rain. Xander and Dame stand up and walk out of the room, the girls training behind them.

I wish I knew how to comfort her, but I don't. I simply walk over to her and pull her in for a hug. This is the first time I willingly hugged somebody in forever.

"Call me tomorrow, okay?" I say as I pull out of the hug and leave my hands on her shoulders.

She nods before wiping her eyes. I glanced at Rain on my way out, but he was already turning towards Prim.

I walk out of the club and immediately spot Slater. He was leaning against the wall, smoking a blunt. I walk up to him and glare.

"What's your problem?" he says, looking at me as he blows smoke out his mouth.

"You're such an asshole." I say, grabbing the blunt, then stomping on it.

"Don't speak on what you don't know, Aspen." Slater says.

"I dont-" I begin to argue, but Slater cuts me off.

"Enough," he says.

The power in his voice makes me go silent.

He takes a deep breath before taking his keys out of his pocket and unlocking his car. We walk to it in silence, the silence not breaking as we get in. He starts the car as I look out of the window and see Rain come out of the club. He's alone.

I can basically feel the anger radiating off of Slater as he speeds home, swerving in and out of traffic. I look over to him to see his jaw clenched as he drives with one hand on the steering wheel.

I don't want to be nosy, but what would Rain have done for Slater to be acting like this? And it's not like I can ask Prim, especially right now.

I debate the idea of asking over and over again in my head before settling on the idea that he will tell me when it's the right time.

A shiver runs through me when Slater's car starts pushing cold air towards me. He glances at me before reaching in the back seat. He pulls out a gray sweatshirt and hands it to me before focusing back on the road. I slide it on and almost moan at how warm it is. I slide my bunny ears off and slip the hood on.

I feel the hoodie cover most of my face as I lean against the window.

"You're going to have to take me to the academy tomorrow." I say between a yawn.

"Can I get a please?" he says, looking at me.

"Never." I say.

I feel my eyes fall as the low rumble of Slater's car puts me to sleep.

My brain wakes up before my body does, and I hear the car door open as Slater picks me up. He puts his hands under my armpits as he lifts me, and my arms instinctively snake around his neck.

I feel his hands move to carry me from underneath, and I sigh as he walks to the front door.

"I know you're not sleeping, Aspen." he says.

"Yes I am." I argue.

"How believable." he says as he unlocks the door and walks up the stairs.

His warmth is lost as he puts me on my bed. I feel his hands snake underneath his jacket and I open my eyes.

"You have to take the jacket off. It's going to get too hot." He says as he lifts it and drags it off of me.

He throws it onto the floor before giving me a last glance and walking out of my room.

I stare at the doorway until I fall asleep, drifting into sleep.
