Chapter 11

~Hey guys! Thank you for the patience, I know some people have been waiting for new chapters. School has been so overwhelming but now, I have time to write more! So enjoy :)~

~Newt's pov~
I woke up this morning feeling the wind on my face, which was a new sensation since the warm weather appeared. I immediately got up and looked around to see multiple Gladers already working, so early in the morning. They must've taken advantage of the cool weather to work the most before the warmth would come back. Then I laid my eyes on Y/N, peacefully sleeping, which surprised me since she's always up before all of us.

"Y/N? Good morning love." I said quietly waking her up by rubbing my thumb on her shoulder. She let out a soft moan as she was stretching, sitting up in her hammock.
"Good morning." she looked around. "Shuck, did I sleep in, I'm running today!" she said a little panicked as she saw so many Gladers already working.
"Don't worry love, it's still early. The sun hasn't even completely risen yet. The weather is nice, some guys wanted to get some work in before the warmth."
"It's my favourite time of the day..." she said under her breath, loud enough for me to hear. She turned her head to the side to admire the Glade; the sun was rising and the wind was making her hair softly move around. Her eyes were still half closed but I could spot a light of hope in them. She shivered and looked back at me. I felt a weakness take over my legs as she did. She was so beautiful it made me weak.

"Well I'm running soon, so want to grab breakfast?" she asked breaking the silence.

I nodded and we walked towards the kitchen area, still wearing my shirt that I gave her the day before.

~Y/N pov~
As Newt and I walked towards the kitchen to get breakfast, I felt some sort of tension between us. I don't know if the feeling was mutual but I knew that it was related to last night... more specifically what happened last night. I was way confused and needed to talk with Newt. I made it my goal to have a talk with him later today.

"Morning guys." Minho said to us as we sat down with him with our plates filled with fruits.
"What are you doing up dude? I thought you would take this day off to sleep." I said taking a bite of a strawberry.
"I know what I said. I got woken by the other guys getting up. It doesn't really matter anyways, I'll take it slow today." he answered with tired eyes. I could tell this day of rest would reset his energy. All for the better.

We all ate making small talk and then it was time for me to get ready for my day in the maze. I went to change and made a quick stop at the map room, to catch up on some directions. Then, I made my way to the entrance of the wall waiting for Alby to show up. We still had a few minutes but I liked being early. I was sitting down, picking at the dry grass when I heard footsteps behind me. It was Newt.

"There you are love. You're a little early today aren't you?" he told me sitting down next to me.
"Yeah. I don't know, I guess I'm a little nervous to get back in there today. It's like a have a feeling." I admitted.
"A feeling? What kind of feeling?" he said intrigued.
"I wouldn't know how to explain it..."
"Nothing bad though right? Because if you don't feel like going in there today, I'm sure that-"
"Newt I'm okay!" I interrupted him laughing. "Sometimes I get those... I can't really explain it. It's not important anyways so don't worry about it okay?" I asked looking straight into his eyes.

The worried look slipped off his face when we locked our eyes together. We stared at each other for a while before a strong wave of cold wind hit our bodies. It was really strong. It wasn't helping my gut feeling...

~Narrator's pov~
"Hey um, Newt?" Y/N said looking at her hands, picking on them.

Newt looked at her hands and knew she was nervous when she played with her fingers. He gently grabbed her hands and held them into his to make her stop.
