I knew it was too good to be true; everything that night was too good to be true. There had to be some kind of wrecking ball swaying in to crash into my wall of luck any second. And of course, it had to be the police. Now Tess is suing Amelia on violation of the contract we signed, and she's being charged by the FDJD (Federal Domestic Jurisdiction of Denver). She could be facing a $5,000 fine, dismissal from her job at JL, and a possible two years in prison. I just...god this was so unfair! Tess had no right to meddle around in Amelia's life.

I was in my room, standing in front of my mirror. I felt so nauseous, and I looked like crap. I haven't been able to sleep properly for a week and a half, not like I was staying at me house in Denver anyway. I was staying at Ashlyn's house, and luckily, her parents liked me.

"Are you sure you want to go to the hearing today? You might not like what the judge is going to rule for her," she said.

"No, no I'll be fine. I have to do this. Not only am I an accomplice in this whole load of shit, I'm also the prize. If Tess wins than Amelia goes to jail and I have to be her daughter until July," I replied.

"So only two and a half months right?" she asked.

"It seems like forever," I replied.

"Look why don't you just screw it and we can go get a milkshake or something?" she asked. I gave her a flat look.

"Amelia's reputation is not only at stake, but also her confidence in being a mother. It's taken her eighteen years and fifteen months worth of physical and mental therapy, and now she's facing a 5,000-dollar fine and a possible two years in prison. Ash, I have to be there," I said and grabbed my shoes.

"I'm sorry sweetie. This is why I'm never going into law," she said.

"Don't worry, I still love you," I replied, and then slipped my shoes on.

"So onto something happier, have you received any acceptance letters from any universities?" she asked me. I sighed.

"No, letters from Princeton were sent out last week. What if I don't get in?" I asked.

"Are you kidding me? You're grades are 100% better than mine; of course you're going to get in. And if you don't...than you can spend the next year travelling all over the world like you always wanted, selling your work to filthy rich billionaires," she replied.

"Ash I have to get into Princeton, it's the least I can do to...yeah,"

"Oh, I see what this is about," she said.

"What's it about Ash?" I asked while I dusted on some makeup.

"This is about your super hot boyfriend who you left in Durango," she replied.

"I left him standing in the rain on prom night, I practically told him I wanted to break it off for a while and I'm an awful person for that. After the god damn trial I'm going back to make it up to him," I said.
