Last Day

It was the last day of my first year at Hogwarts. I was packing my things when someone walked into the dormitory... Merula. I hadn't spoken to her in a few months ever since we had that one on one conversation. She started to pack her things and my eyes were locked on her. She looked sad today. Probably because she had enjoyed her first year at Hogwarts. I decided to pluck up the courage and ask her how she was doing.
"Hey, Snyde. How're you doing?"
She turned her head. "Are you really asking me this, (last name)? Or am I just dreaming?"
"No, I'm really asking you," I said seriously. "You look quite gloomy."
Merula stopped everything and just froze for a second.
"I do?" She asked looking really confused. "Well, I'm fine. I just don't wanna leave for summer. That's why I 'look gloomy'."
I continued to pack and said, "Right, none of us want to leave Hogwarts."
"Yeah. I actually like some of the people here." She replied.
Me being me, I just asked the worst question I could ever ask. "Anyway, where do live since your parents are in jail?"
Merula stopped once again, looking the saddest I've ever seen her. "You know they're... In jail...?"
"Well, uhm yes- but-" I realized I was making her feel worse.
"Look, if you really want to know, don't tell anyone what I told you," She said and looked down. "Okay?"
"Okay." I said.
"Well, when I was ten my parents were caught and put in Azkaban. I've had to live with my aunt ever since. I hate it there. She's rude to me and doesn't really take care of me. And when I went to muggle school before Hogwarts, I had no friends. I was bullied for the way I looked and how I was different from everyone. I had one friend. Her name was Chloe. One she just wasn't there and I hadn't seen her since. That made me really sad. When I got my letter to Hogwarts I was so excited to finally become a witch. I decided that I wanted to be the most powerful witch at Hogwarts so people wouldn't bully me and fear bullying me, but I really just want some friends. The only ones I have are Ismelda and Barnaby. Ismelda is a creep and all she talks about is blood and murder. And Barnaby? He's an idiot!
That's why I look gloomy today, (last name). I have to go back to my aunt and probably spend my 12th birthday alone. I just want my parents back."
"Merula, I'm so sorry-" I had no words. That was honestly really sad.
"It's fine, I just wanted someone to finally listen," She said calmly. "And you listened, so thanks."
"You're welcome," I said as I got up. It was time to go to the end of year feast. "I'm pretty sure Slytherin won the house cup this year. Let's go to the Great Hall. I'm hungry."
"Yeah, let's go," Merula locked her trunk and got up. "I'm starving."
We walked to the Great Hall together. We sat down and Dumbledore started his long speech.
"Now, it's a shame that we have to end our year at Hogwarts. Such a great one it was." He blabbered about everything that had happened in the year and how the next would be just as great. "And now, we shall know the winners of this years House Cup! In last place, we have Gryffindor with 2,091 points. In third, we have Ravenclaw with 2,203 points. In second, we have Hufflepuff with 2,586. And in first place, Slytherin with 2,759!"
The Slytherin table roared with happiness. Everyone got up and celebrated.
"Now now, calm down. It is time to enjoy your end of year feast!"
All plates of foods and desserts appeared on the tables. We all ate and had a good time. I was sad to go home, but I knew I'd come back in just a few months.
