"I assume you wonder why I requested your presence?" Gabrielle leaned forward on his desk.

Gorilla grunted in response before rolling his eyes.

"Well, I wanted to know why you have been avoiding me! I don't understand what I've done to you." Gabrielle's shout slowly reducing in volume until it was nothing more than a mere whisper.

Anger was slowly seeping into sadness. Was he just going to pretend that nothing happened? Gorilla looked up to meet Gabrielle's eyes. Blue on blue. Sorrow on sorrow.

As they held eye contact, it felt like time had stopped. Like the world had stopped spinning. Like nothing else mattered. 

But the moment didn't last long. 

Gorilla was the one who broke the eye contact, as he returned his gaze to the floor. It was too painful for him to gaze into the eyes of someone who he cared so deeply about with unreciprocated feelings.

But little did Gorilla know, Gabrielle was feeling the exact same way. 

"I'm sorry."

Those two words startled Gorilla and his head shot up in surprise. He grunted questioningly, as if asking Gabrielle to repeat or confirm his previous statement.

Gabrielle's eyes were slowly filling with tears. "I'm very sorry. I called you in here because I wanted to tell you ... "
