Zayn starts to thank himself for requesting excessively long flights of stairs in his house, as he's able to think of what he'll say to Harry.
It wasn't a question anymore. Zayn couldn't hide Alana from the world anymore. He knew it was a matter of time before someone saw her. And sooner than he would think, Alana will grow into a beautiful, strong young woman. Someone who will change the world for the absolute best.
She will grow up, but Zayn will never stop protecting her.
"Hi." That was the only thing Zayn could say as he looked at Harry.
Harry, who was comfortably lounging on Zayn's couch staring at his fidgeting hands.
Hearing Zayn's deep voice, Harry whips his head around before standing up and walking toward him. "Hey." Harry responded. He didn't look mad, or disgusted. He didn't even look shocked anymore. For an unknown reason, Harry looked nervous.
"Um sorry, about sorta abandoning you out here." Zayn apologized while looking at the floor. Almost as if he was ashamed of being 'rude' to his guest. Almost.
"I understand, Zayn. Don't apologize." Harry said. His voice was firm, assuring. "What's her name?" Harry was intrigued. An adorable little thing, Zayn's daughter.
Zayn smiles wide. "Alana." He says proudly.
"That's beautiful." Harry smiles at him.
Zayn let's out a laugh. "Thank you."
Harry nods his head, looking in thought. "Sorry if I'm pushing," He starts. "But, does she have a mom?" Harry asked a little quieter.
Zayn let's put a breathy chuckle as he starts to think about his wife. "Yeah. Yeah she does." He answers will a small smile.
Harry doesn't answer for a while. Just studied Zayn's features as he looked off into thought. Zayn was pretty. So beautiful, he seemed so pure. But that's not what he's focusing on right now.
"Is she the friend?" Harry asked. Not rude, but curious. Zayn didn't seem to understand, cocking his head to the side and furrowing his brows in confusion at Harry. Harry smiled fondly at the face Zayn made, to himself of course, and smiled before elaborating.
"The one who gave you the advice. About moving on. Living life without caring about what others think...is she the friend?" Harry asked.
Zayn, again, nodded with a smile. "Yeah. That's her."
Harry spoke slow, naturally. Zayn took notice of this. He didn't judge, but he did think it was cute. Almost innocent.
"Tell me about her." Harry smiles small at him, and Zayn returns it as he looks into Harry's eyes.
"She's...everything." He started. "She was beautiful, black hair, green eyes, caramel skin. She was smart. She was perfect." Just like Alana.
"She always had an answer, solved the problems no one else could. Never stressed, didn't crack under pressure. Always knew what I was thinking. Knew how to calm me down. And she always made sure I knew, she loved me."
Harry smiled as Zayn was talking. "She sounds like an amazing person, Zayn. What was her name?" Harry asked.
Zayn smiled. "Alaska."
After that, the two boys were left with their thoughts. Comfortable silence surrounding them and they did nothing but let their minds go crazy for a bit.
But Harry spoke up, and to Zayn's surprise.
"Alana loves you so much." Harry noticed.
That made Zayn feel proud. "She's my whole world."
"I'm not much to you but, for what it's worth...you're a good parent, Zayn. For both father, and a mother." Harry was nice, understanding through their conversation.
"I have to be. That little girl deserves everything good in life. I wanna give her the world, I wanna make sure she has the best possible life she ever could. Because she deserves that...she deserves happiness."
"She's happy." Harry nods his head as he speaks, looking into Zayn's beautiful eyes. "Alana's happy, Zayn."
"Alana is just like her mom was." Zayn smiled, remembering the small moments he had with his girls. "And I wouldn't ask for it any other way." He finishes with a content sigh.
Harry seemed to catch the past tense in Zayn's words. "I...I'm sorry." Harry knows what that's like. Loosing someone you love. But he wouldn't tell.
"It's not your fault, Harry. It wasn't anyone fault. Wasn't something that could have been prevented." Zayn said.
Harry knew what he meant. "How did it happen?"
Zayn wasn't worried about Harry asking these questions. He needed to talk about this, Harry wouldn't tell anyone. He probably doesn't even care.
"...House fire."
Hi :) I'm sorry this is shorter than usual. But I didn't want to make the last chapter excessively long so I just split it up, but trust me the next chapter will be normal haha. Bare with me! We are slowly moving along :)
