84 hours earlier ~

Two days. Captain Monica Rambeau and Agent Y/n L/n were stuck in the Westview anomaly for almost two days. Having lost all lines of communication with them once they entered Westview, the two were finally heard from again after Wanda Maximoff blasted them out of the hex last night. What started as a simple missing person's case has somehow turned into... this.

Y/n was slowly pulled back to reality as the slight murmuring of familiar voices could be heard from beside her. Just as she began to fully bring herself back to consciousness, she screwed her eyes shut as a bright light poured into her sight. She balanced her hand over her face, trying to block out as much light as possible, as the medic continued to make her assessment.

"Get that shit away from me." She groaned, squinting as she pushed herself into an upright position.

Jimmy and Darcy's heads sprung towards Y/n at her sudden awakening, quickly ending their conversation to focus on the girl that now sat up on the table.

"How are you feeling?" Jimmy started, watching as Y/n rubbed the pain from her shoulder. However, before she had time to answer, Darcy cut her off, "you look like shit."

"Missed you too, Darcy." Y/n chuckled as she tightened her arm around her stomach. "Well, I feel like shit but besides that, I'm good J, thanks." She smiled at her worried friend.

Her entire body ached and the dizziness she had picked up the night before had yet to leave her head as she brought her leg up to her chest. She let her arm rest on her knee as she held her head in her hand, the piercing headache making it difficult for her to think straight.

She brought her glance around the room, "where's Monica?" She asked as she continued to search for her partner.

"Woke up just before you. There's a briefing in ten, so you should probably go join her and change." Jimmy said, handing her a fresh uniform. She nodded in agreement, taking the clothes as she hopped from the table. She looked down at the pale blue hospital gown that hung loosely from her body. She looked back up at the two in annoyance.

"Really?" She huffed as she motioned to the light piece of fabric barely hanging on to her. Darcy slapped her hand over her mouth at the scene, trying to silence the laughs that were quite clearly making their appearance. Jimmy cleared his throat, an obvious laugh escaping from behind his balled fist as he looked to the girl in front of him.

"You know what, fuck you guys." Y/n turned around, crossing her arms firmly around her chest as she held the gown together. Jimmy slapped his hand against his knee and Darcy practically toppled over as they laughed at their flustered friend.

"You know what, I think you should go to the briefing like that! Hayward would love it!" Darcy managed to say between her laughs.

Y/n shot up her middle finger at her bubbling friends as she moved towards the other room, a small smile stretching on her face as she let out a heavy breath.

Y/n made her way towards the meeting room where Hayward was holding the briefing. Just before her hand met the door handle, a familiar voice could be heard from behind her, quickly catching her attention.

"Y/n..."

Y/n turned sharply to see Monica rubbing her forearm behind her. The two shared a relieved sigh, quickly rushing to pull each other into a tight hug.

"You good?" Monica asked with a concerned tone.

"C'mon Rambeau, I'm always good." Y/n laughed as the two began walking back towards the base.

"You?" Y/n asked before opening the door.

Monica gave Y/n a reassuring nod before the two agents headed through the doorway. They joined Darcy and Jimmy, who stood glaring at the man circling in the middle of the room. Hayward cleared his throat as his eyes met with the two agents that entered the room.

"As I was saying, we are now assessing a clearer picture of this crisis. And thanks to Agent Y/L/N and Captain Rambeau, we now have first-person intel from inside the Westview Anomaly." He said, his voice clear as it rang through the room.

"I just had to give a quick history lesson on Wanda's past, and his main concern was if she had an alias..." Jimmy whispered, the four friends all sharing an eye roll at the director.

"I try not to speak ill of people..." Jimmy started, his tone still soft as to not be heard.

"Then allow me—Hayward's a dick." Darcy finished, the four friends quietly chuckling to themselves as they focused their attention back to the center of the room.

"It is the policy of the US government that we are never to negotiate with terrorists..." Hayward's statement quickly recapturing the attention of the four.

"Wanda's not a terrorist." Y/n corrected him, stepping forward as she crossed her arms.

"I'm sorry?" Hayward looked back at Y/n in disbelief.

"I've seen first-hand what it's like in there and I don't believe this is a premeditated act of aggression." She continued.

"Y/n's right, she has shown no signs of having a political agenda or any inclination toward destruction." Monica took Y/n's side as she joined the conversation.

"Monica, you described the experience of being under her mind-control as 'excruciating, terrifying, a violation.'" Hayward responded, reading her exact words from the file he held in his hands.

"Listen, Wanda knew we were SWORD. She could've done a lot more damage when I broke from her control, but she didn't." She emphasized, her tone remaining strong as she looked to the man ahead of her.

"Y/n, she blasted you halfway across New Jersey." Hayward insisted. Staring back at Y/n in confusion as she continued to defend the enemy.

"And I survived because she chose to protect me." She countered, feeling the heat rise in her chest.

"I saw what it was like in there... up close, and I don't think any of the things Wanda has done have had the strict intention to hurt people." Her voice was slightly raised in irritation towards the man who constantly questioned her every move. He furrowed his brows at the headstrong agent before pulling up a set of security footage on the table in front of him,

"You don't? Let's bring up the visual..."

Y/n's wandering thoughts came to a halt as her conscious mind finally caught up with her. Literally. Everything around her was in slow motion, yet she could tell she was moving at an insane amount of speed. Well, not her, but the person who had picked her up and taken her away from investigating the purple basement.

She looked up to the silver-haired boy who carried her bridal style, her expression remaining blank as she had a hard time processing the events that were occurring before her. Pietro looked down, noticing her eyes on him, which he returned with a cheesy half-smile.

Just as he looked back up and away from her, everything came to a stop.
