"Who the hell do you think you are?" Hayward boomed. His voice filling up the room, causing everyone's heads to turn.

Y/n straightened her back, removing the weight she had been putting on her arms as she leaned on the desk. Calmly, she quickly closed the files that were displayed on her computer, pulled it from the desk, and slipped it into her bag. She turned to meet the tall man forwarding in her direction, rolling her eyes as he came in front of her.

"Whatever do you mean?" Y/n cocked her head to the side sarcastically before turning back to the desk.

"You, Captain Rambeau, and Agent Woo were to be off my base last night, what part of that did you not understand?" He continued to press.

Y/n didn't move, turning not a single ounce of her attention to him as she returned to her work at the desk. She glanced down at her phone that sat tucked away just underneath a stack of files, keeping a close eye on the downloading screen that it was dimly displaying.

'Come on, come on, just a little more...'

Her eyes continued flipping back to the screen as she ignored the man standing behind her.

"Oh right...and your little tech friend, what was her name? Lewis?" He sneered behind her, knowing damn well it would touch a nerve.

A loud crash rang through the room as Y/n slammed her fists against the table. She pushed herself from the desk instantly, clenching her hands into tight balls as she stood head-to-head with the man in front of her.

"DON'T YOU DARE." She growled through her teeth, "You're the reason she's in there right now, you pretentious bastard." She continued, the last two words falling into a mumble as she fought the urge to connect her knuckles with his jaw.

"She was the only one trying to help Vision while you were all just standing there... watching. Watching as he tore himself apart. SHE WAS THE ONLY ONE." All eyes were plastered on Y/n as her voice continued to heighten, "WHY WOULDN'T YOU HELP HIM?"

"THAT'S ENOUGH." He shot his hand through the air, waving it sharply as if it would give him more power. He glanced around the room, noticing his conversation was being watched by everyone around him. He cleared his throat, taking a breath before pulling himself back to meet Y/n's cutting stare.

"As I've said, since your return from the anomaly, all you seem to have proven is how detrimental you are to this mission." He lowered his voice, yet his ordering tone remained.

"I'm not the one who's starting a war they can't win." She interrupted him before he could spit out another word.

"And I'm not the one who's constantly siding with the enemy." He lowered his voice further, pulling his head closer to Y/n's to insure she'd hear him clearly. "You've grown a 'soft spot' for Maximoff, it's quite clear," he whispered.

"Are you sure she's not still in your head?"

Without another word, Y/n tightened her already clenched fist, brought it back in a sharp motion, and connected with his cheek.

The room went silent as Hayward stumbled back from the contact, immediately grabbing his chin and circling it in small motions.

"You're going to regret that." He gritted his teeth, his hand still rubbing the remaining pain from his jaw.

Unbothered by his weak attempt to shake her, she lifted her bag onto her shoulder and turned towards the door. She quickly glanced down at her phone, the words 'download complete' were rewarded to her as she slipped the device into her pocket. Just as she began to leave, she felt a hand wrap around her forearm, attempting to pull her back to her previous position.

"Get your fucking hands off me."

With her piercing words, he slowly removed his hand from her arm, her eyes drilling into him as he did so. She bit her tongue, shoving down the urge to give him another piece of her mind, and continued towards the door.

"You're done! You're off this case!" He barked as she cleared the tent.

Y/n was pulled from her mind as she now found herself in an unfamiliar room, quickly being placed in a chair faster than she could blink. Pietro- or not Pietro flashed over to the corner of the room, slouching down onto the couch that sat across from her.

"You reaaally shouldn't have gone snoopin' around where you don't belong." He whistled, humming to himself as he began strumming aimlessly on a guitar that now sat in his lap.

"Where the hell are we?" Y/n remarked, scanning her messy surroundings.

"Ah right, this is my man-cave." He answered with a proud smirk on his face as he joined her glance around the room.

She brought herself out of the chair and moved towards the small window that looked out onto the street. Wanda stood in the middle of the road as another figure flew off towards the center of town.

"Wanda! Wanda, your psycho brother kidnapped me!" She banged her fist against the window, hoping to get the girl's attention. Y/n rolled her eyes as Wanda raised herself into the air, following in the same direction as the other figure, and left the street empty.

"You've got to be kidding me." She huffed, falling back into the chair.

"Relaaax babe, you've got everything you could ever need right here." He bounced his eyebrows, gesturing to himself on the couch.

She groaned, resting her head in her hands as she picked her brain for any sort of plan. She tilted her head towards the door, focusing on it as she waited for Pietro to be completely distracted before attempting the only idea she could come up with. When she saw his eyes focus down on the instrument in his hands, she bolted to the door. However, her attempt at escape was no match for the speed demon that now stood in front of her.

"Too slow." He shrugged, pointing his index finger in her direction. With one simple tap to her chest, Y/n was sent flying back across the room, crashing into the chair she had been previously seated at.

Ouch.
