The two remained quiet while different, yet somehow identical thoughts whirled through their heads. Their eyes were locked on each other, a silence filling all four corners of the room that was now accompanied by two.
The seconds of silence they shared were familiar, taking both girls back to their shared loss for words during their final moments in Westview. When for a moment, there was nothing to say. When behind their blank features sat a world of realization for the two in different ways. But just as the moment in Westview was merely a moment, this one passed as well.
The silence that was suffocating the girls had been broken as Wanda looked to her mug. "I..." She mumbled as she picked apart her brain. She took a step back, however, it wasn't because of Y/n, but for her.
"How long was I out?" Y/n's voice was low as she tore her eyes away from Wanda to bring her glance back around the room. She clenched her jaw, trying to gather her own emotions as they mixed in her mind. She was too vulnerable.
"Almost a week..." Wanda practically whispered as she watched Y/n scan her surroundings.
She lowered her eyes to Yn's chest as the soft red and golden glow began to fade into her sweatshirt. Her lips parted slightly as her mind circled in shock and confusion. Wanda had lifted her magic from Y/n nearly two days ago, seeing that she was stable enough to no longer need the support. Why was it still there? When the magic had completely disappeared into her chest, Wanda placed her mug onto the coffee table beside her and turned to view the room as well.
Y/n's full awareness and the rest of her senses had finally caught up to her as Wanda's response shook her into reality. Harsh reality. The reality where she buried all her vulnerabilities as far down as she could and masked her weakness with anger.
"What the hell happened? Where even-?" She pushed herself from the couch, immediately clutching her hands to her chest as a wave of pain shot from her heart and spiraled throughout her body, hitting every other sore she had. She stumbled back slightly as the pain hit her legs, gritting her teeth against each other as she stood up straight.
Through some sort of instinct, Wanda quickly stepped towards Y/n, raising her hands slightly as she watched Y/n's knees buckle. However, Wanda quickly came to a halt as Y/n moved back from her. Y/n's breath was heavy and Wanda's face dropped as they looked back at each other.
The color had drained from Wanda's face as she watched Y/n back away from her. She looked down at her hands, slowly pulling them back and away from Y/n. Wanda focused on the floor as she fiddled with the rings that sat against her fingers, twisting them anxiously as another thought formed in her mind: 'She is afraid of me.'
As Y/n closed her eyes, briefly attempting to catch her breath as she did her best to hide her pain, a glimmer of red-tinged gold brought Wanda's eyes back to her.
A split few rays of golden light emanated through the spaces between her Y/n's clutched fingertips. Wanda gasped slightly, watching as the muscles in Y/n's face relaxed as the magic grew brighter. Her shoulders lowered from their clenched positions and her hands fell from where they clung to her chest and she let out a breath as the radiance slowly fell back into calm darkness.
Y/n quickly stretched her back straight, crossing her arms tightly across her stomach as she hid away the remaining pain in her body. She looked back to Wanda, who just stared back at her with her brows pinned together and a look of confusion clear in her eyes.
"Where am I?" Y/n's glance stayed on Wanda, who stayed standing not far in front of the doorway.
"I-..." Wanda's voice was soft and her breath hitched as she searched for something to say. She racked her mind for some kind of logical explanation but nothing came. What exactly could she say?
"You're currently in New York City. More specifically, 177A Bleecker Street, Greenwich Village. Or just, the New York Sanctum." A man appeared from behind Wanda and resided next to her.
"Who the...-"
"Dr. Stephen Strange." He said bluntly, both Wanda and Y/n's eyes plastered on him. Wanda seemed to have been familiar with the strange goatee man, unlike Y/n who just stared at him in utter confusion.
"Now, as ecstatic I am that you finally decided to wake up, you both need to go. Right now." The man brushed his cape to his back as he paced to a corner of the room. He brought his arms out in front of himself, forming an 'L' shape with his finger on both of his hands.
Y/n was absolutely dumbfounded. Plainly at a loss for words as she watched Dr. Stephen Strange begin to move his hands in a circling motion at the wall in front of him. 'This guy is out of his mind,' she thought as she watched him.
She looked back to Wanda, hoping for someone to tell her what was going on, but all she was greeted with was more silence from the witch as she watched 'the doctor' wave his hands around like an idiot. I mean, really, where was she? The New York Sanctum? What the...
Just as she opened her mouth to intervene, she was stopped as luminous orange sparkles began to crackle before his fingertips and follow his circular pattern. Then, all at once, the sparks merged into a visible ring, right there in front of him.
A golden glow returned to Y/n's eyes as she watched the energy Strange had cast move together in a spinning motion just above the ground.
"You know what, not the craziest thing I've seen." Y/n retorted sarcastically as she stared back at the portal.
Wanda looked at Strange and shrugged slightly, exchanging a 'yeah-she's-got-a-point' look before both turning back to Y/n.
"Alright, both of you in. Now." He stepped to the side and pointed to the shining gateway, which held a completely different setting inside its borders.
Y/n laughed slightly, "Yeah, hard pass. Can someone just explain to me what the hell is going on and maybe what the fuck even happened?"
"Where does that go? I thought you said...-" Wanda looked back to Strange, her arms now crossed as well.
"Yes, well, plans change and you can't be here right now. Not until I figure out what the disruption is." The tall wizard nodded to Wanda before she could finish.
"Disruption? Alright, yeah, I'm out." Y/n threw her hands up slightly.
"Sorry, but I can't let you do that.," Strange stepped forward before she could even take a step back. "I will explain everything soon," were his final words before unclasping his cloak and letting it fall.
Just before it hit the ground, it stopped and straightened itself in the air. Without time for rejection from the girls, the cape went whirling around the room. Flipping to the opposite sides of the room, it swept the two off their feet and pushed them quickly into the portal. The cloak unwrapped itself from them just before the ground, making them stumble onto the grass. Almost unable to keep her balance, Y/n turned back to interject. However, the spinning sparks had disappeared and the portal had closed.
