"Am I doing this right?" Mitsuki asked. Masaru looked up from where he was trying to figure out how to make Katsuki's crib to his wife rocking the baby to sleep. Or trying to. Because if Katsuki's tear-stained face was anything to go by, it wasn't going so well.
"Wahhh!" Katsuki cried. Both Masaru and Mitsuki winced.
"Oi, don't cry baby. I ain't trying to kill you!" Mitsuki shouted.
This, obviously, did not have the intended effect as the baby just started crying louder. Which made Mitsuki curse out loud, making the baby cry even harder. And this vicious cycle would have kept going if it weren't for Masaru making a pained yelp.
Mitsuki turned to the sound, and saw her husband cradling his hand gently, face scrunched up like a little boy about to cry. It made for a strangely amusing picture that would have normally made Mitsuki laugh out loud before peppering her husband with kisses to make it feel better.
But since Mitsuki had been unsuccessfully trying to calm Katsuki down on her own for the past two days, having to be dependent on Masaru for a duty she should technically master because she's Mitsuki Bakugou goddamit and a mother, added with the stress of realizing she had no idea what she was doing, made her particularly emotionally vulnerable.
Which saw her crying on the floor uncontrollably. Her knees bent under her, and she joined Masaru in a crying fit, leaning her head on his shoulder. Which triggered Masaru to cry even harder, because when he sees Mitsuki hurt, it's like having been hurt himself. Which triggered Mitsuki to cry louder, triggering Masaru further, and vice versa, starting another vicious cycle of sobbing like children.
Which was broken by the sound of laughter.
The two adults stopped, looked at each other in confusion, before turning to the source of the sound. And they saw their baby boy, who had just moments before been crying desperately, now was in the peals of laughter. Tear stained eyes were now bright and happy as he waved his arms around in delight. The two were dumbfounded at the sight. And they might have looked extra stupid because Katsuki just giggled even louder (He definitely got his mother's lungs, Masaru privately thought).
A small chuckled erupted from Mitsuki, starting slow before exploding into her own laughing fit. Masaru was the only one left confused.
"Uhhh?" He eloquently responded. Mitsuki let her laughter die down and flashed him a smile.
"We're a bunch of idiots ya know," she chuckled. Holding Katsuki in one arm, she used her free hand to gently brush the baby's head. Katuski was busy giggling himself silly, but stilled when Mitsuki caressed his head. He gazed at her with curious eyes that slowly closed thanks to their touch. Pretty soon, the baby was drooling. She gently laid Katsuki on an arrangement of pillows for the baby to sleep in until they could make his crib. For now though...
"Let's go the fuck to sleep," they said after sneaking a pic of their sleeping boy.
Katsuki had a look of concentration on his face as he tried to unravel the mystery in front of him. Bright crimson eyes took in the details in front of him, of his surroundings, and took note of the changes. His young brain was currently whirring as he tried to figure out what happened. But no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't figure it out!
Where did Mama go?
"Peek a boo!"
The baby jumped then cried in delight as the face of his Mama reappeared. There she is! Mama began doing that 'smiling' thing that he was still trying to figure out. Katsuki tried to do it to, which just made Mama laugh which made Katsuki laugh because he liked how pretty Mama's laugh sounded.
