The class went on for hours. Hours and hours. My face was bored and tired. I yawned and stretched.
"Now when atoms connect..." the professor went on as my ears silenced him out. My backpack vibrated on the floor next to me. I slowly pulled my phone out of the bag and turned it on.
"GET HOME NOW!!!!!" my mom texted me. I started panicked and my anxiety rates started going off the charts. I marked the text as read and replied saying "ok!!". I got up from my chair and walked out up the stairs going out the door.
"Um, excuse me miss Shepard... where are you going?" My professor asked me as the entire class started at me.
"Family Emergency". I said looking awkward and embarrassed. I walked out of the class. I was wearing light blue ripped jeans and a black crop top with a fairy on it with a pair of black wedged heels and and jewelry everywhere. My hair was mid way long dark brown wavy middle parted hair. My skin tone was dark Olive and average sized dark brown eyes. I just had mascara and sparkly lip balm on. I pushed the door opened and walked out into the gigantic collage hallways. I ran down the stairs and out the doors. I got back on my phone and attempted to call my mom back to see what the hell was going on. I called her and she picked up.
"Mom what the hell is going on?" I asked worryingly.
"Sweetie, ok so you're out of the building?" He asked.
"Ya.. ya! Where's mom?" I asked annoyed.
"She's in bed, she passed out and hour ago, i took her phone to text you". He said in a rush. It could barely talk I proceed so much information and my anxiety took control of me.
"Sweetie I'll explain later! Get in your car!" He shouted. I looked around for my car and unlocked it with my keys so I could see my lights flashing. I see my lights flashing and run into the parking lot spamming the unlock button. I get into my car and put the keys in ignition and put my dad on speaker phone.
"Now Sweetie, your going to need to break some traffic laws ok?" He told me.
"What?" I asked sounded shocked.
"I'll explain later! You need to leave now!". He demanded. I drove out of the parking lot and got to the road.
"Now, I have your gps on google maps ok? Now go full speed, I don't care if you go through a red light or anything like that ok?" He said.
"Uk ok?" I replied. I stepped on the gas and drove down the street passing 5 stop signs and 7 stop lights going 160 miles per hour.
"Now stop and turn left". He said. I did as he said. I saw two cops parked as I whipped by them. They're sirens and lights went off as they chased me.
"Dad there's cops chasing me!" I shouted in fear.
"Don't worry about them, just do as I say and you'll be fine!" He reassured me. I kept speeding down the streets as I saw what looked like meteors falling into the atmosphere in the sky. The cops kept chasing me so I stepped on the engine harder.
"Turn right!" Dad demanded. I turned the corner and saw a riot at the Mayer's office. I looked up and saw the mayor getting into a helicopter on the roof with his colleagues.
"Dad there's a huge protest going on at the mayors office". Told him. "And I think there's a meteor shower too." I said.
"Oh my god! Jess DRIVE!" He hollered at me. I kept driving as I drive past the riot. The signs didn't say anything political. Just a bunch of conspiracy theories about a meteor shower. I looked back up at the sky and saw the moon. But this time it was 10 times bigger with a light pink and purple substance around it. It looked looked like it was going to crash into Earth! I told dad and he continued to worry and tell me to drive faster. A bunch of my friends started texting on our group chat about this phenomenon. I looked into my side mirror and saw the cops still on my tail. I was getting closer to drive on the bridge back to my side of the city. The bridge over looked both sides of the city and was the length and height of a building on top of the water. I drove on the bridge with my dad still directing me. Both of the cop cars stopped half way on the bridge. I looked back to see them. After a few seconds they exploded, leaving the cars to roast in flames. I gasped and started crying from all of this chaos. The moon kept getting closer. My dad noticed how scared and traumatized I was and sang me a lullaby from when I was younger. That song made everything better. I Kept crying leaving my face a goopy makeup mess.
"Thank you dad". I said still breathing heavily from the tears just barely lifting a smile. A big thud ruined our moment. I was till driving on the bridge as I look over my pass anger window and see the moon another 10 times bigger crashing into the earth. My eyes widened and my jaw dropped. My friends were even more scared in the group chat. They kept saying how much they loved each other and since I wasn't answering they automatically thought the worst. I saw small little space ships flying from the moon onto Earth. I screamed.
"AHHHH OH MY GOD DAD!!!!! WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS?????". I asked dad in terror.
"Keep driving sweetie, everything will be alright". He says in a calm voice. The terror in my eyes were unreal. I finally got off the bridge with a bump. I sped through traffic barely getting by without hitting someone or a car. People all over the streets were screaming and running for their lives. The police weren't doing much except standing on the sidewalks as the moon entered Earth. The little space crafts looked like some sort of Star Wars ship. The we're flying through cracks of buildings and going extremely fast. The space ships started shooting at buildings with laser beams. And burning buildings down. They created huge explosions. I finally entered my street. I parked terribly on my lawn and grabbed my person and ended the call with my dad before telling him I arrived. I saw him packing his car with all of his stuff including my mothers and my brothers things. My brother was never around much. Always with his new girlfriend who didn't care about anything but his money. I hugged dad and asked him what the hell was going on. He started crying as he looked at me.
"I love you Jess".
