- THREE MONTHS LATER -

"Alyan, get your ass back here!" I yelled, hearing him cackle loudly. I ran after him, trying to get my phone that was held in his hand.

When he stopped running, I finally caught up to him, resting my hands on my knees and trying to catch my breath. When I could finally breathe again, I stood up, reaching for my phone that he was holding over his head.

I stretched as far as I could, but the tips of my fingers only made it a little past his elbow. Damn him for being so tall.

"Alyan, give me my phone back!" I whined, trying to jump up and reach it.

"Nope." He grinned, only holding it up higher. "We're at a fair, you shouldn't be on your phone."

I sighed. He was right, but still. That didn't give him the right to take my phone from me.

"Oh god. What did I miss?"

I turned to see Isaac coming to a stop behind us, two funnel cakes and two lemonades in his hands. I had no idea how he managed to carry all of it, but it was Isaac, so who knows.

"He took my phone." I said, stepping away from Alyan and pointing over at him.

Isaac rolled his eyes, taking a sip of the lemonade before handing it over to me.

"Where's Pen?" Alyan asked, referring to his girlfriend, Penelope. Most people called her Penny, but I guess he had a special pass to call her Pen since he was her boyfriend.

"She stopped by the bathroom and asked me to just take your guys' food back to you." Isaac explained, handing Alyan one of the funnel cakes and a lemonade.

Alyan nodded, putting a piece of the funnel cake on his mouth.

I eyed my phone, which I could see in between his hand and the cardboard container the funnel cake was in. There was no way I'd be able to get it without ending up knocking the funnel cake on the ground.

Only a few moments later, Penelope walked up to us. She smiled at Alyan, taking a piece on the funnel cake and leaning into his side when he put his arm around her shoulders.

Her red hair was pulled back in two French braids that fell over her shoulders and her face and shoulders were sprinkled with freckles. Her green eyes looked around curiously, crinkling at the corners from the smile she had on her face.

Around two or months ago, I was scrolling on Instagram and Alyan's profile came up in my suggested. After a lot of hesitation and some encouragement from Isaac, I sent him a friend request. When he accepted it, I messaged him.

The text explained how I missed the friendship that we had and that if he would want to, I would be more than willing to try and become friends again.

He said that he missed our friendship too and we agreed to meet up. It had been awkward at first, but after a little the awkwardness faded away. We had talked for hours and caught up on everything that we had missed.

And so here we are. I was glad we were friends again, even if it wasn't the same as it was before.

Something that was different was that we didn't have Charlotte. Alyan had said that he stayed friends with her until she moved away for college.

Right now, I was happier than I had been in a long time and it was all because I had agreed to a deal that I thought was stupid at the time.

Alyan handed Penny the funnel cake before handing my back my phone. I took it from him, handing it to Isaac to put in his pocket.
