Fennec

Fennec watched as Lavender walked back in and sat down beside Oleander.

A lot had happened in the past few days.

He had found out his family wasn't his family, and that his new friend was a princess.

And... that maybe he liked her as more than that.

NO. He definitely couldn't fall in love with her now that he knew who she was.

"Why couldn't I just have a simple life?" He thought, letting out an audible sigh.

"What's wrong?" Oleander asked, taking a bite out of her muffin.

Fennec tensed as she twined her tail around his. "I-it's nothing. I was just wondering what we were supposed to do now..."

"That's easy!" Comethunter said as he stepped out from his and Fox's room. "I'll go talk to the Sheriff and get you two off whatever wanted poster you have."

"What about Lavender?" Oleander asked.

Comet frowned. "Whatever she did, she probably deserved."

Lavender stood up and scowled at him. "Wanna say that again, you-"

"Now, now, children." Fox interrupted. The graceful hybrid put a wing in between the two dragons, keeping a regal face plastered.

Lavender sat back down, exchanging a glare with Comet.

"I'll be visiting the Sheriff today so you three won't have to worry," Fox said gently but with a hint of frustration. "Understood?"

"But-" Comet started.

"Understood?" Fox said again, a wind of ferocity behind it. He may have been hallucinating, but he thought fog was coming off of her scales.

"Yes ma'am!" Comet said quickly.

Fox gave a nod and sat down. "So, Oleander, would you mind filling me in on what your brother did?"

Oleander nodded. "About a month ago, he stopped well... showing up. We thought perhaps he was off seeing his girlfriend or something else."

"He'd probably try to find the Lost Continent," Fox said with an amused tone.

"The weird thing is," Oleander continued. "Is that he once enchanted a map to show the location of whoever he told it to find. I checked it before we left and he didn't show up."

"That's... worrying," Fox furrowed her brows. "But he's an animus, why doesn't he just teleport back home?"

Fennec tapped his talon on the ground. "Maybe because of another animus?"

"It's perfectly plausible that he would anger an animus and then get trapped somewhere, but killing Silver?" She shook her head. "That dragon would fight tooth-and-claw before accepting his death."

She stopped, her frown deepening.

"Aloe told me what happened at the Scorpion Den six years ago. There was a dragon there who almost killed Silver. In fact, Silver has a scar from the fight."

Oleander gasped. "You mean that mark in his shoulder?" She asked.

Fox nodded. "Yeah. I wonder if it could be the same dragon..."

"I think we're getting a bit off track," Lavender interjected. "I still need to deliver the princess to the rainforest."

"Yes. I'll be talking to the Sheriff, but just in case..." She turned to Comet. "I want you to watch over them, okay?"

"Hey, I think we should get a vote in this!" Lavender protested.

"I'm fine with him coming, Lavender." Oleander offered.

"I am too," Fennec said.

Comet scowled. "I'd usually be fine with helping out a traveler, but her?" He shook his head in disgust. "No thank you/"

"You're going., Fox said slowly, glaring at him. "Or else." Her voice had an odd tone to it, and whatever she meant had an impact on Comet, as his face turned white.

"Y-yeah, sure, Fox." He mumbled.

Fox gave a nod of approval. "Good. Now eat up, you four have a long day ahead of you."
