Chapter 25

Kay, let's finish this damn book already.

Oleander

The first group was composed of Lavender, Silver, Fennec, Comethunter, and Oleander. They were the first team to go in. Together they were meant to free the prisoners and escape after Fennec lighted the signal.

Silver led them into the palace with him and Oleander disguised as Nightwings. "It's right through here... there's a tunnel that leads into the back chambers. We just have to get through the Great Diamond." He informed them.

They entered the plaza, where a deep blue-colored Seawing stood beside a chained hybrid. A Nightwing stood next to the hybrid, holding an axe as he stood on his rear legs.

"My new friends! Let us celebrate our new age with the death of this traitor!" The Seawing announced.

"I object!" Silver suddenly declared, staying on the other side of the room to not bring attention the others.

Haddock whipped his head toward him. "You!"

Squall whipped his tail, writhing and breaking out of his small prison. He damaged the nearest dragons, including the executioner. 

Silver thrashed around the crowd as they joined up on him. Gold was there, fighting alongside him.

"Fennec, be careful." Oleander said as they split up.

"You too." He hesitated. "And good luck."

Oleander gave a nod and vanished into the tunnels.

Time Skip

A burst of flame rose from outside the castle, signaling the rainforest forces to raid the castle. At the same time they rushed in, the prisoners came in with weapons.

Haddock's army was quickly outnumbered as they became surrounded and subdued.

Haddock roared from his stand as Squall and Silver entangled themselves with him. The two enemies, now rivals, perhaps even friends, fought the Seawing as elegantly as if they were in a dance.

An explosion suddenly went off, destroying part of the castle. Fire rushed along the plaza, cutting the three fighting males from everyone else.

"Silver! Get out of there!" Gold cried.

Silver jumped forward, blocking a hit from Haddock that was directed at Squall. In a moment, he pushed Squall off the platform, where a group of Rainwings caught him and began dragging him out with the others.

Haddock hissed at him as a piece of the roof fell behind him. A pillar cut them off as the fire spread.

"Silver!" Oleander called. Her words were lost beyond the fire. "Lavender! Help me lift this!" She shouted, reaching for the flaming pillar.

"Hey, we need to get out of here!"Comethunter said, grabbing her shoulder.

Oleander grabbed the pillar and then pulled back with a yelp when the fire burned her. "B-but-"

"Oleander!" Comet turned her around, his eyes more serious than ever. "Let's go."

Oleander felt tears welling in her eyes despite the heat. But as she turned back toward the pillar, he grabbed her arm and dragged her out, Oleander screaming and fighting him the whole way.

"What happened?" Firefly asked sometime later, she wasn't sure when, only that she was on grass now. "Where did Silver go?"

"Oleander!" Two people called her name. A gold and a blue face looked at her with worried eyes.

Oleander stood, wiping tears from her eyes. An orange light flicked in the distance, a glorious castle finally meeting its end.

And then, in a moment of silence, everyone turned to look at it.

The side of the castle exploded, creating a gap big enough for the top of the building to collapse inward. The giant castle collapsed and fell onto itself, dying with loud crash.

"Silver!" Oleander cried, the only noise on the quiet hill.
