Stella stood in front of the tall mirror in Alistair's room admiring the fit of her new leather jacket. She paired it with black jeans and a Beatles shirt that always brought her comfort on her birthday. It was her mother's shirt and one that held the best of memories before things got dark. They would listen to The Beatles and dance around their small home. Turning to pose, she caught a whiff of the smell lingering on the jacket. It smelled of cologne and cigarettes. But unlike Alistair's spicier cologne, Kid's was a lot sweeter. She held the lapel up to her nose and closed her eyes. Her stomach sunk as butterflies battled through her.

Stella felt his lips on hers again, his calloused hands on her body, his demanding tone as he pinned her against his door. She felt a rush of excitement burn through her. It was clear to her that she was attracted to Kid in a primal way. When she laid in bed alone, she thought of Alistair, but Kid presented something tangible, an excitement she can have, one that would satisfy her hunger, now. He has an alpha presence to him that terrified and excited her.

He knew me before he met me. She couldn't get past this. The way he quickly opened up to her, let her into his world, trusted her. It all makes sense now.

What would I do if there was no curse? If no one had to die? What if these were two humans---christ did I even just ask that? Stella scoffed to herself letting this new world of hers finally dictate her reality.

"You look badass." Stella turned to the raspy deep voice behind her. Kid stood at the door frame with his blue leather jacket on.

She smiled tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Thank you so much for giving it to me." Stella's eyes widened at the way she phrased that sentence. Kid simply chuckled as he tilted his head rubbing at the back of neck.

"So—" He walked in clearing his throat. "Marcus told me that Al wants us to get out of here for a few hours. I'm supposed to take you out shopping while he sets up."

"Sets up?" Stella narrowed her eyes. She quickly rolled her eyes in horror. "Oh god no—is he throwing me a party?"

Kid nodded smiling with his hands in his pockets. "You don't like parties?"

Stella sighed. "I just---I don't like to be the center of attention. I'm social—but I don't like big crowds or for anyone to make a big fuss over me." Stella spent her entire life under the microscope of medial examiners. She had enough attention this life time.

Kid furrowed his brows nodding. He turned to her smiling. "I'm like that now. But back then?—" He pushed his tongue against his cheek shaking his head. "You would've hated me in the 20's."

"It's true." Alistair stood by the door frame with a drink in his hand, the other in his pocket. Stella and Kid turned to see him smirking.

"No one liked you in the 20's. Fuck--- I still don't like you. I'm more of a cat person. I like all types of pussy---" He leaned forward raising his brow at Stella. "—cats". He scrunched his nose up smirking.

Stella scoffed. Alistair turned to Kid eyeing his outfit.

"Make sure you're back to change before the party starts." He brought the drink to his mouth. He can sense Stella jump in to speak.

"Alistair you really don't need to bother. I'm fine not doing anything."

Alistair licked his lips swallowing his drink. "Mm, it's a small party l promise. You know with cake and ----alcohol. It'll just be myself, you, Jackson, Marcus, and your bff Nathaniel." Alistair kept his gaze at Stella but felt Kid clear his throat.
