Maria’s POV

It’s been two weeks since Michael had asked to marry him. It came out of nowhere; I didn’t even expect him to tell me he loved me. We didn’t even live together but we did spend most of the time in my apartment. Ever since the proposal we decided to move in together. I had told Mary and Mario at the office and they were over the moon. Pretty much how I felt, I couldn’t believe that I was getting married. I was young but I knew that I all I wanted in my future was Michael. I was happy that our relationship was finally taking a step forward. I loved Michael and he felt the same way, I couldn’t remember a time when I was happier.

We had unpacked the last of his stuff, everything found its place, and he didn’t have many things so it was good. Now I was able to go sleep with him beside me and wake up with him beside me. Our relationship had grown stronger, and I loved it. I knew that this was how I wanted every day of my life to be like.
We were open with each other and didn’t keep secrets… well, maybe except for one.

I was still seeing Sam like pretty much every day, we got to talking, and he was on this type of drug that made him be calm no matter what the situation was. Sometimes I felt like maybe I needed to get some of that stuff. We usually spoke about everything; the only thing we left out was his past and what had happened with him. Surprisingly as the days went by I didn’t even want to know. I felt like whatever had happened in his past, was in his past, and no matter how much talking would be done it wouldn’t change anything.  I also began to feel really odd emotions when I was with Sam, I felt calm around him. It was like there wasn’t anything else more important than him, but I knew that these feelings were only feelings of protectiveness. I hadn’t told him about my engagement and part of me felt like he wasn’t ready for that. I didn’t quite know why I felt like keeping that from him.

Although, when I got home I felt guilty for being with him, because I loved Michael and I knew that if he found out I was seeing Sam he wouldn’t be very pleased with it.
Once again I hadn’t spoken or seen Vicky ever since the party. She had some business trip with the hotel that she was working with.
All I knew was that she was doing well and that she couldn’t get anything started with James. Part of me knew that something was wrong, but I couldn’t get anything out of her.  I couldn’t wait for her to come home so I could share the amazing news. I was engaged to Michael. I still couldn’t get over the fact that he actually proposed.

‘’So I was thinking we pick the light blue for the waiting area’’ Mario’s voice suddenly broke through my thoughts.
We were redecorating the office; I got bored of the old interior design, so I decided to have some sort of change. Mary and Mario both agreed and pitched in so we could have it all remodelled and afford better and more fashionable furniture.
‘’Wouldn’t that kind of make the patients feel like they’re in some sort of ocean of thought?’’ I wondered.
Mario looked down at the chart of different layers of colours and sighed.
We had been on this subject for almost an hour; we couldn’t find the perfect colour for the waiting area. We wanted it to be warming yet something that said it was time for change.
‘’How about the light pink.’’ Mary spoke up from behind her new, light oak desk, newly polished and completely hand made.
‘’Pink, so we’re building a clinic for mentally abused female puppies?’’ Mario rolled his eyes and sat down on one of the new office chairs.
‘’What if we paint two of the walls a light green colour and the other two white’ I said after a moment of silence.
They both looked up at me and smiled, I grinned back knowing that we had finally settled on something.
‘’That’s great!’’ Mario beamed and stood up. ‘’I will call the painters to come in then’’ He said and walked outside.

‘So then we can bring in the white sofas and the glass coffee tables’’ Mary added adding the finishing touches to her desk. We bought her a brand new computer and all the other necessary equipment that she required. The office was finally coming together.
