Expect The Unexpected

Chapter 30

Michael’s POV

As I sat there across from the most beautiful woman is the world I knew that this was the right time to tell her how I really felt. I knew that I had to do it sooner or later because my feelings very continuously growing.

‘’You are the most amazing woman that I have ever met’’ I spoke quietly yet loud enough so she could hear me. 

‘’Oh Michael…’’ Maria smiled, her cheeks going rosy. I felt my heart almost leap out of my throat. 

‘’I am so glad that we have forgotten our differences and finally become the couple that we were supposed to be two years ago. I love you Maria and I have never in my life loved or cared about anyone else as much as I do about you. ‘’ 

Her eyes widened and I saw tears in them, she dropped her fork and swallowed. 

‘’Oh Michael, I love you too, I really do, I always have’’ She said and broke into a massive smile. I couldn’t help but smile back. 

I felt my heart hammering the inside of my rib cage, wanting to escape, like a lion in the wild. I stood up and took out the red velvet box from my pocket. Maria’s eyes widened, she knew what was going to happen, I could tell. 

I slowly got on my knee in front of her and took her hand in mine. Her other hand was covering her mouth and I could see tears in her eyes. I took that as a good sign.

‘’Ever since I met you I was fascinated by you. You have a mind made of gold. You are kind and loving. You have helped so many people, including me. The past few months that we were apart I felt lost.  I didn’t know what to do with myself, I felt like something was missing in my life. It was you. You are the only thing that makes me whole…’’ I stared into her eyes and as I watched a tear roll down her cheek I opened the box to reveal an engagement ring. 

‘’Maria, will you marry me?’’ I asked.

By now there were people looking at us, and once Maria started nodding people awed. 

‘’Yes, yes I will’’ She said, now crying with joy. I took out the ring from the box ad slid it on her finger. 

She then threw herself at me and kissed me.  While we kissed the whole restaurant broke into cheers. 

‘’You are mine forever’’ I whispered into her ear after the kiss.

After dinner I drove her home and stayed at her place, I didn’t want to ever leave her again. We didn’t even have time to talk, once inside her apartment, we made our way to her bedroom and made sweet love.
