The Fateful Match

You look at the girl standing there, astonished. She took down a Fatui member with just one strike of her polearm, who was this girl? Not only that, but the Fatui mage was on the ground before you could even react..was she watching you since you entered Wuwang Hill? You didn't feel any sort of disturbance since you entered, other then the eerie feeling of the place. Perhaps she was hiding her presence behind that? If so, then..

(Y/N) | "W-What? Who are you?" You ask, quickly standing up and taking a slightly defensive pose. Even though she just rescued you from danger, you could never be so sure.

??? | "There there, no need to get all defensive! Just cleaning up the nuisance around here that call themselves the Fatui." She responded, her tone was playful.

(Y/N) | "Oh..um, right." You murmur, slowly letting your guard down. Her reaction speed must of been insane if she was only just walking by on a patrol. After all, the mage was just right behind you and she acted in the blink of an eye. Which made you wonder. "Were you watching me since I entered Wuwang Hill?"

??? | "Hehe, you caught me. I have to keep an eye on people who come across my territory. Or maybe even potential customers."

(Y/N) | "Your territory? Um, customer?" You ask, a bit confused as you slightly tilt your head to the side.

Hu Tao | "Oh, that's right! My name is Hu Tao, the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor! Speaking of which, what makes you come here in the middle of the night? Are you a customer, or perhaps you came here for a spook~?"

(Y/N) | "Middle of night?! B-But, wasn't the sun just going down?"

Hu Tao | "Mhm! And now that it is officially down that means its the middle of the night! The perfect time for all the kinds of scares."

(Y/N) | "I don't think that's how it works.." You mumble, looking at her a bit funky before clearing your throat. "I'm (Y/N), a traveler from a distant world. When I came to Teyvat, I was quickly blessed with a vision. I'm coming from Mondstadt and am trying to get to Liyue in time for the Lantern Rite festival." You then blush a little, slightly pouting as you turn away. "I tried getting to Wangshu Inn before nightfall, but I may have overslept this morning.." You murmur, fiddling your thumbs as you are a bit embarrassed to admit it.

Hu Tao | Already receiving a vision even though they haven't been here for that long? The Archons must value this individual highly. "Aiya, you missed Wangshu Inn by a long shot!" She said, laughing a little. "I can give you an escort there, if you'd like! I have no work I need to be doing for the Parlor tonight, and I've cleared up all those nasty Fatui around as well."

(Y/N) | You look over at Hu Tao when she mentioned an escort. Well, she probably did know Liyue better than you did. Plus, you got your directions to Liyue Harbor from Venti of all people. You could never be sure if he was playing a prank on you or not. After thinking on it you slowly nodded to her. "I'd appreciate that."

Hu Tao | "No more time to dilly-dally then, off to Wangshu Inn we go!"

You and Hu Tao set off to Wangshu Inn as the moon slowly raised higher and higher in the sky as time went on. During the walk there, you had some idle chit-chat with her. Mostly about how she received her vision, what life was like in Liyue, her line of work with the Funeral Parlor, and those kind of things. You also talked about yourself as well, your home world, why you became a traveler, and so on. An hour or so passed, and you could feel your bond strengthen with the mysterious girl as you kept chatting. Despite only meeting so long ago, you felt like you were new friends with her, which made you happy inside. As you approached Wangshu Inn, in the distance you noticed a group of hilichurls being commanded by an Abyss Mage. Trouble. You look over to Hu Tao to see if she saw them too, and as you expected, she had her gaze dead set on them.

Hu Tao | "Aiya, looks like we have trouble up ahead. And here I was thinking we could have a peaceful walk to the Inn." Hu Tao adjusted her hat before summoning her weapon, grabbing it out of the sky before glancing over at you with a smile. "You said you already received your vision, yea? Let's see what you can do with it!"
