-Chapter 3-

ARE YOU OLDER THAN 18?

⭕YES ⭕NO

Technically, I'm not older than 18. I'm only 17. But I'll BE 18 in less than two weeks. Does that count? Well, I guess I still wouldn't be OLDER than 18, so I'd say no.

🔴NO

IS A PARENT OR GUARDIAN WITH YOU? ⭕YES ⭕NO

Well, no. But I knew the site wouldn't let me buy any tickets if my parent didn't know. But I may as well be an adult. I have my own phone, driver's license, and credit card. I'm tall for my age, too. I can look after myself and Dylan easily.

🔴YES

*~*~*

Tickets costed $175 for a crappy seat and $350 for an OK seat. All the $500 good seats were sold out. Then the scratch-off raffle tickets were $425 each. Geez! For the best chance at meeting my loves, I'd need as many raffle tickets as possible.

I've always been good at saving money. I opened my own bank account when I was eight and started it with $55. Now I have over $3000 from my income of allowances and summer jobs.

I opened a new tab on my computer and went to the bank's website. I checked my account: $3587.62.

Not bad! I knew I wanted an OK seat, so minus $350 leaves $3237.62. I always try to keep at least $2000 in there in order to budget myself. That meant I could only afford two raffle tickets. Grr.

I went back to the ticket-buying site. The concert was on March 31st. I could probably save enough cash by then to buy three.

Just then, Dylan hobbled into the room. His short red hair bounced as he walked.

"Hi, Cyndi!" he said. His 's' sound whistled since his front teeth were missing.

"Hey, Dee!" I lifted him onto my lap.

"What's that?" he asked, fully extending his arm to point at the computer screen.

"Oh, uh, nothing. Just... Online shopping. Yeah," I stuttered unconvincingly. I clicked the minimize button in the corner and it shrunk onto the dock.

"It said One Direction. Is he your boyfriend?" Dylan asked, is big brown eyes staring up at me.

"Who?"

"One Direction."

I laughed. "I only wish. I haven't even met them. But I'd sure love to!"

"Why can't you?"

I laughed again. "They're busy touring! But I might have a chance to meet them if I win this raffle."

I stopped talking. It had just slipped out.

"Oh," Dylan said.

"Dylan! Come here a minute, babe!" our mom called from the kitchen.

Dylan hopped off my lap. Without another word, he scurried into the kitchen.

I turned my attention back to the computer screen. I pulled the window back up and stared at it.

Hoping the seats wouldn't sell out, I closed the window and shut the computer down.
