-Chapter 5-
"Cyndi!" someone said. "Cyndi! Wake up!"
"Whyyyyyy..." I moaned, rolling over to face the window. Sunlight streamed into my eyes.
"It's your birthday! Open MY present first!"
I sat up and rubbed my eyes. They came into focus with a little 7-year-old redhead.
"Good morning, Dee," I greeted my little brother.
"C'mon c'mon c'mon!!" he urged, bouncing up and down.
"Oh, alright!" I gave in, ruffling his hair as I slid out of bed. My eyes took in the scarlet hue of my room. I smiled at my Niall Horan poster on the back of my door before heading out of my room.
Dylan had practically skipped down the stairs ahead of me as if it was HIS birthday.
Pulling on my favorite pink hoodie, I followed him down the stairs. I flipped up my hood to hide my horrible hair.
As soon as I entered the kitchen, a marvelous smell met my nose. I smiled slightly.
"Happy birthday, honey!" my mom said. She was at the stove making all kinds of things. There were pots and pans everywhere, and you could hardly see the tiny black stove under the mess.
"Egg! Egg!" Dylan requested.
"Coming right up!" she agreed. "Cynthia? What would you like?"
"Toast, please!" I answered without hesitation.
"Ok," Mom laughed.
*~*~*
"Open MY present first!!" Dylan said excitedly.
"Ok, ok," I nodded. I took the present that said "FRom dYlaN!" on it off the table.
It was short and cylinder shaped, with blue-and-white striped wrapping paper. Both ends were bunched together and bound with ribbon.
I tore open one end and smiled when I saw the 1D logo. I pulled out the rest to find a One Direction pen with Niall's face on the cap.
"Thanks, Dylan!!" I grinned. I pulled him into a hug.
Mom was staring at her gift. Slowly, she lifted it and handed it to me.
"Dylan's idea," she said. "We know you'll love it. I'm so glad he thought of it. You'll be so happy," Mom said.
Reluctantly I took the package. It was flat and about the size of half a piece of paper. It was coated in the same blue-and-white wrapping paper.
I started tearing the corner. Again, the 1D logo popped out at me. I smiled. I continued tearing across the top.
It revealed an R.

Quickly, I ripped the rest of the wrapping paper off.
1D RAFFLE TICKET
MEET ONE DIRECTION IF YOU HAVE THE WINNING NUMBERS!
I squealed. I dropped the ticket and ran over to hug my mom.
"THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!!!!!" I cried.
Then I ran over to Dylan. "Thanks for telling her about it," I grinned. I hugged him too.
I picked up the ticket. My eyes widened the longer I stared at it. I couldn't believe it. A raffle ticket!!
I looked closer. The fine print read, "Winning numbers to be announced at the end of the concert on March 31st. Odds of winning: 1:2500"
"So any number can win," I breathed.
In one motion, I snatched the pen off the coffee table and flipped it over so I wouldn't have to use Niall's head.
Then I scratched off the first number.
