Lost in the Middle

Results Day

Results day comes round fast and the loved you teenagers make their way back to school to find out their grades from the treat eleven final exams, in a way both were nervous as this would determine if they could study what they wanted to or not.

Karen, Jack's aunt had been picking on Nikki for weeks telling Jack that she is just trouble and will leave him. But Jack hadn't listened he was madly in love with the blonde firecracker who was starting to calm down a lot with Jack around. But this didn't stop Karen from picking flies of Nikki, away from the school situation.

Either way, Jack and Nikki had remained strong together and enjoyed each other's company. They step foot onto the school grounds for the first time in months and head to the sports hall for their results.

Jack pulls Nikki to a side just outside the sports hall and holds her tiny waist close, "whatever happens in there... I've got your back" he smirks leaning in to kiss her. Nikki kisses him lightly on the lips and smiles as she inhales his aftershave.

"Thank you" she mumbles.

Jack takes her hand and they walk into the sports hall which has a few balloons scattered around the room near the tables with all the results on. A few people from their year who are stood with parents glance over at the pair who walk through the hall hand in hand.

She lets go of Jack's hand and heads to the section with everyone under the surname starting with A and looks for her results before pulling them up And heading over to Jack who's got his."You go first" Nikki speaks nervously.

Jack gives a nervous nod and opens up the envelope and pulls out the results, scanning his eyes over it and more importantly his science grades. "So?" Nikki asks.

"I got three A's..." he breathes almost in disbelief.
"Jack that's amazing! What in?" She asks cheerfully.

Jack glances down at the results not believing his eyes. "Biology, Chemistry and Computer science... got a bloody B in physics..." Jack huffs feeling somewhat disheartened by the physics grade.

He reads the total grades at the bottom before reading them out to Nikki who is beaming from ear to ear just waiting to hear them all "three A's, five B's, and one C..." he responds.

"That's still amazing" Nikki beams throwing her arms around Jack and cuddling him close.
"Okay, your turn..." Jack smiles.

Nikki takes a nervous breath, she wondered if all that time she had walked out of lessons or not turned up had dramatically affected her results. Trying not to dawn on her past self she pulls the piece of paper out of the envelope.

Her hands begin to shake as she scans across the results and her eyes floor with tears, "Nikki? Is everything okay?" Jack pushes nervously. Nikki wipes the tears that are streaming down her face. "Oh Nik," he sighs fearing the worst.

"Jack... I..." she chokes.

Jack runs his hand down her arm and squeezes it slightly, "what did you get? More importantly sciences..." He asks treading carefully.

Nikki runs her eyes over her results again making sure she wasn't seeing things, "physics... A, chemistry A* and biology A*" she breathes.

"What!" He beans happily.
"Jack I got straight A's" she speaks and Jack takes the paper from her revealing everything with an 'A' next to it.

She takes the paperback and he pulls her into a tight hug kissing her head and smiling from ear to ear. "Five A stars, and four A's" she grins completely over the moon with herself despite her teachers not believing in her.

As the teenagers embrace each other Miss Spark, Jack's form tutor and the pair's biology teacher come over to see how well they did. "So Nicola and Jack... smiles all round what did we get?" Miss Spark asks.

"I got an A... and Nikki... she got an A*" Jack grins watching the teacher's jaw drop before she pulls both her students into a hug.

Pulling away from the hug the teacher takes their results and scans them, "well done to you both, you must show your results to Miss Mason and Mrs. Fisher, Nicola... you are this year's only straight-A student so far!" Miss Spark beans as she begins ushering Nikki towards The headteacher and Mrs. Fisher. "Rachel ... Karen... I think you should take a look at Nicola's results..." Miss Spark beans proudly.

Jack follows the two over to where the headteacher and his aunt are and waits as the two scan her results. "Well, well well, Miss Alexander. This is phenomenal! I shall get Miss Chadwick to check the database but I don't think anyone else is a straight-A student... congratulations. So will you be returning to us next year?" Miss Mason asks.

Nikki turns back and glances at Jack who she knows is stopping on, despite her hating the bell hole maybe the sixth form would be different and she could focus on her ideal subjects. "Erm... yes if you will have me?" She asks to glance between the headmistress and Miss Fisher.

"As long as you have corrected your ways... we don't want a performance of year eleven now do we?" Mrs. Fisher chips in.

Jack steps forwards placing his hand on Nikki's shoulder, showing his aunt how much he loves Nikki and that she needs to accept Jack and Nikki are an item.

After a few minutes of talking Jack and Nikki head to one of the classrooms and select their chosen subjects for their A-Levels. And no surprise the pair both choose to study sciences as a whole but predominately focusing on biology and chemistry.
