Recently, I have been hearing something about colourism everywhere
So I decided to look it up.
Colourism means prejudice or discrimination against individuals with a dark skin tone, typically among people of the same ethnic or racial group according to Google.
In other words, people within your own race might not like you because lighter/darker than them or richer than them or something along those lines.
I didn't even know this was thing until recently and I don't understand why it exists or why there is a name for it anyways
But this got me thinking.....
Question : Is it possible Colorism can turn into self hate?
Yeah, this question is a bit touchy for some but...
Is it possible that a black girl/ boy that hate themselves because they have been exposed to colourism...
If so that would be really sad, that people in your race don't like you because your skin is darker/lighter than theirs.
And that person that is hating themselves because of it
That isn't right
But I guess that's humanity for ya......
