If I Met Her First.

Don't Be Afraid.

"I'll be gone for just a few hours. I have to run into the city but I'll be back before tonight." Steve says after telling Emma he has to go out.

"Alright. I'll try and talk to Bucky while you're gone." Emma says and smiles.

Emma watches Steve get onto his motor cycle and ride off. She doesn't know what to say to Bucky, but she'll figure it out, for Steve's sake.

When she walks back inside, Wanda and Nat are sitting in the lounge. Emma sits next to them and looks at the ground. She's mad at herself for thinking of Bucky so much.

"Everything alright?" Wanda asks and looks at Emma.

"It's just that Bucky has been a little weird with me since he got here last night and I told Steve I'd talk to him. I just don't know what to say." Emma says to Wanda and Nat.

"Maybe just ask him for the truth?" Nat suggests.

"Yeah. Bucky can be a lot to handle, but he's harmless." Nat says.

Emma takes into consideration what the two of them said. She walks around the compound and goes to find Bucky. When she finds him, he's sitting in the gym looking at the ground.

"Hey." Emma says and walks towards him. Bucky looks up and smiles back. "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah. Why wouldn't it be?" Bucky asks.

"Well you just seemed upset about something this morning. I wanted to make sure you're okay." Emma says and steps towards Bucky again.

"I wasn't upset. I was annoyed." He responds and looks away.

"Annoyed at what?"

"You and Steve." Bucky says and stands up, facing Emma.

"Bucky, I don't know what you mean." Emma says and steps back, but Bucky keeps walking forward. Until her back is against a wall. "What are you doing?"

"I don't know what it is about you," Bucky says and looks down at Emma. "but something about you last night drove me crazy."

"Bucky, stop." Emma says and looks up at Bucky. "I'm with Steve. I'm sorry if I gave you any ideas last night but I didn't mean to."

Bucky looks away and gets angry. He takes a step back, before throwing his metal fist at the wall beside Emma's head. She dodged to one side and looked at his hand in the whole in the wall.

"What the hell was that!" Emma shouts and steps away from him.

Bucky looks down and shakes his head, like he's shaking away the thoughts he was having. Emma kept stepping away, not wanting him to get mad again.

"I'm sorry. I just get mad sometimes." Bucky says and looks up. "I would never hurt you." He added then stepped towards Emma, but she stepped back.

"Please don't be afraid of me." Bucky whispered and looked at Emma. She stared at him and felt tears in her eyes.

"Just stay away from me Bucky." She says and walks away, leaving Bucky standing there. Emma has never had anyone do that to her, she wasn't scared, just mad.

When Steve got back, Emma decided to not tell him about what happened with Bucky. Instead, she told Steve she couldn't find him around the compound, so she'd try again later.

That night, Steve and Emma sat at the dinner table like normal with everyone else around them. Well, everyone except for Bucky.

After dinner, Emma went back to her room to have some time alone. She really needed to think about what happened with Bucky. All she could think about though was what she was going to tell Steve.
