Remedial Goodness

I can say without a doubt my favourite part of school was my free period. That was when I do all my planning for pranks, new art projects or ideas for activities Ben and I can do when we hang out. Sadly, today I was tasked with something to do during my free period.

Fairy God Mother had asked me to stop by her class to talk with the V.K's in an attempt to make them feel more welcomed. What better way to show them that they can be good than by putting an "example" right in front of them? Apparently seeing how someone similar to them achieved "goodness" will help encourage them. I call bullshit. But everyone knows you can't say no to F.G. so here I am, making my way towards her class during my free period. I think this is a way to pause any plans I was making for a future prank, but no one will ever admit that.

To my surprise, Jane was standing by the door when  I arrived. Why? I don't know. But I can bet it's because she was too scared to enter the classroom. All that shaking she did gave it away.

"Jane," I called out to her. "Why are you standing by the door? And why are you shaking so much? You look like a chihuahua."

"I have to go in and get my mom's signature, but I'm too scared to go in. What if they decide I look like food and want me for their next meal? I don't taste good, plus I'm too young to die. I haven't even found my first love yet."

The pure stupidity of her reasoning made me want to slap some sense into her. What was up with everyone in Auradon? I blame it on the fact that common sense isn't that common, because if it was, I wouldn't be having this conversation with Jane. How could she possibly think that they would eat her?

"Jane, take a good look at those kids in there. They look exactly like us, but with much cooler clothes. They are not going to eat you, in fact, I think like most people, the thought of eating another human may make them sick. Okay? So just go in and get your mom's signature. They are not going to hurt you."

I gave her a little push and she scurried her way to the front of the room. I waited by the door until she came back, she'd definitely need more reassurance before she left.

Honestly, all I could hear this morning was how everyone should stir clear of the V.K's. All that talk of "giving them a chance to be good" flew out the window once Audrey opened that big mouth of hers. "I tried to be nice, but they were just so rude. There's honestly no hope for them. They'll probably try and hurt everyone. I would stay away from them." I wanted to punch her right in the face, maybe break her nose when I heard what she was saying. "I'll try and give them a chance." Yeah right.

After a while, Jane scurried her way back over to me. I definitely had to work with her on her self-confidence, better yet just her confidence in general. Her shadow probably scares her.

"See, nothing happened. Now, go take a walk, you need to calm your nerves."

"Great idea, thanks Crystal."

I sighed as she walked away. She was going to need a lot of work. I looked back towards the classroom wondering if F.G. had noticed me before I had the chance to sneak away. Just as I was about to back away she looked directly at me. I sighed again when she a small signal with her hands to come in. I took a deep breath before walking slowly into the classroom. I walked past the V.K.'s and stood in front of the podium F.G. was using.

"Hi, you said you wanted me here during free period?"

"Yes, I did. Children, this is Crystal. I'm sure you've probably already met. Like you Crystal also came from the Isle. And when she came she too attended this class and was able to see the goodness in herself and begin to make good choices. Though she does love to create trouble from time to time."
