The next day had arrived and as we promised Ben and I were going to help Carlos train. Since I was going to be spending more time with Carlos in the future, I decided to spend the day getting to know him better. All I can say is that Carlos is the furthest thing from a villain. I don't think the dude could hurt a fly without feeling bad. Whoever looked at Carlos and thought this right here is a cruel, evil person sent here to hurt us all, is most definitely on something. Coming to Auradon was probably the best thing that ever happened to him.

He seemed to have trouble fitting in with the other kids, so I spent my lunch just talking with him. He's a really smart guy, and I have no doubt that if the Isle had better education Carlos would be a certified genius. I found out a bit about what his life was like living with his mom. I could tell there were subjects he didn't want to talk about, which let me know that it was way worse than what he had told me. From the small amount of information he gave me it was easy to say that Curella was the worst parent in history. There were very strong indications that Carlos was abused and if anything his shy personality was a result of that.

Their involvement with F.G.'s wand worries me. I don't want them to get sent home because of a plan their parents are forcing them to do. Carlos deserves to live somewhere he can feel safe. They all do. What's worse is that even if the Auradon Officials become aware of the abuse, they would still send them back. Hopefully being away from their parents' influence will help them realize that they don't have to follow whatever they tell them to do. And if the other kids start being more accepting there's less of a chance of the new kids doing anything that can cost them their stay in Auradon.

And it sucks for the kids that are still there. I just know that when Ben becomes King, he and I are going to have a long talk about improving the Isle. Those kids deserve better.

We were still waiting for Carlos to arrive, so Ben and I were currently sitting at the bleachers discussing our plan for Carlos. We had already set everything up so now all we had to do was wait for the main star to show up.

"I say for today we just test him on his athletic abilities and see where he is. Then after we assess him we can teach him the rules and create a workout routine for him to follow."

I nodded. "Sounds good."

"Here he comes."

We stood up off the bleachers and headed towards Carlos. To put it simply, Carlos looked like a nervous wreck. He probably thinks he's going to do terribly.

"Carlos relax. You're not going to be doing anything hard. It's just some test to see where you are ability-wise. You can't do bad. So take a deep breath and relax."

"She's right. We'll start off with some sprints."

Carlos nodded and we walked over to the start of a small track Ben and I set up. Ben walked to the end with a stopwatch to time how fast Carlos was. Before Ben shouted for Carlos to go I heard a faint barking noise in the background. I turned around to see Dude coming up behind us. Knowing Carlos was afraid of dogs I turned back around to warn him but he had already taken off with Dude chasing right after him.

Carlos had run straight past Ben and into the forest screaming in fear with Dude following right behind him. I ran up to Ben who was looking in the direction Carlos had run off in confusion.

"Carlos is afraid of dogs," I said briefly before continuing to run after Carlos and Dude. Ben followed after me.

When we finally caught up to them Carlos was in a tree screaming with Dude barking at him. I walked closer to Dude trying to pick him up and get him away from Carlos.

"Crystal, get away from it! That thing is a cold-hearted killer! He's going to chase me down and rip out my throat! This is a vicious rabid pack animal," Carlos yelled hugging the tree. By now Dude had stopped barking and instead sat quietly staring at Carlos.
